Hi, ladies. Happy new week!
I saw an archived post that explained a social experiment done by a woman, in which she posted two OkCupid accounts. In one, she was "nerdy", and in the other, she was a "bimbo". The latter received more attention, because she presented herself as more feminine.
Now, I'll admit, I'm a geek. I love reading, watching documentaries and old movies, learning in general...and I am a huge fan of things like anime, Kpop, K/J-fashion, and the likes. I'm also kind of artsy and I like to draw and write. I am also a fan of certain shows and musicals. The thing is, none of these things are popular in our society and I feel like I am a bit of outsider. I mean, take a look at the 10s out there seen on social media. They aren't doing what I'm doing.
In high school, I tended to be friends with people that have similar interests, and while I did try to dress well in my freshman year, I honestly let myself go by 10th grade year and stopped caring, so I kind of fit the stereotype of the socially inept nerd with the big glasses and baggy clothes. I'm just now getting a grasp on beauty and fitness, and I have also been working on my social awkwardness. I think I'm still too quiet, though...plus, if I'm going to be working in retail, I have to increasingly present myself better.
I honestly didn't think that being nerdy would matter, as long as I was feminine, because I thought that anyone could find a suitable mate in their social circle. Besides, I have always been attracted to cute intelligent guys. However, I'm really doubting myself and I am wondering if I have been delusional all of these years. :/ Do these things especially lower my RMV, in comparison to a woman that only exclusively has traditionally feminine hobbies?
Please help and don't hold back. Thank you.
