100% agree with this. I don't find many men attractive and when I ask myself why. It always falls back to looking greasy, over weight, lazy, no drive or care in themselves. They dress worse then a two year old could. I find many females are becoming just like this as well. Should throw out I spend a lot of effort in taking care of myself.

This is true. I’m not sure if it’s just where I live but almost everyone around me is an absolute slob. Bad diets, bad clothes, bad hair, bad everything. I used to be exactly the same too but when I started to really work on myself my quality of life and interactions with other people sky rocketed. People treat me and look at me like a respectable adult. Disclaimer: I am a white cis-male heterosexual. Your results may vary depending how bigoted people are around you. Nevertheless, self-care will be a net positive.

I think there is a line between looking presentable and fitting into some standard of what "conventionally attractive" is.

Showing, brushing your teeth, using deodorant, skincare etc. Is standard grooming. Eating healthy and working out are standard baselines for health. Everything beyond that is extra effort that is unnecessary - dropping thousands of dollars on plastic surgery, makeup, clothes, taking steriods to look jacked etc. Many people only have the extra income to stick to basic hygiene products.

The problem also arises when what's considered "attractive" changes every decade so people are forced to keep up with changing trends in fashion or beauty standards.

I always think of Mick Jagger. If he had had a bad haircut, bad clothes, and awkward body language/personal presentation, he’d have been an average to unattractive fellow.

Yeah, it can be controlled, but only to a certain extent. It's harder for men to improve their looks than women because they have fewer options. If an average woman puts on makeup, gets in shape, puts on a nice outfit and jewelry, and gets her hair done, then she now looks above average. If an average man gets in shape, gets a nice haircut and wears nice clothes, he just looks like an average man with a decent body, good haircut and nice clothes.

Take me, for example, I'd say I'm a 3 at best looks wise. The only positive physical qualities I have are that I'm tall (6'1") and I have a deep voice. I'm morbidly obese, with toothpick arms and no upper body strength. My hair is thinning. My teeth are yellow, probably from all that secondhand cigarette smoke I inhaled from my mother over the years. My gums have receded. I have no chin, which I'm trying to cover up with a scraggly goatee (since I can't grow a full beard), I have stretch marks everywhere and my lips are perpetually chapped and peeling and nothing I do makes it go away. Sure I could lose weight, build muscle, shave my head, get my teeth whitened and fix my lips somehow, there are still things I can't change. The stretch marks for example, will never go away. And I'm so obese that I will have loose skin when and if I do lose weight, and that skin can only be removed via surgery and I don't think it's worth it

I'd say, at best, I could move up to a 5 or six. If I had all my hair, no stretch marks and no loose skin, I could probably bump myself up to a seven at least. But it'll take years to get to even that 5 level. And 5 is no where near high enough to attract the types of women I like: which are the muscular fitness model types. (Examples: Lauren Stallwood, Nadia Amy, Qimmah Russo, louise_fitcoach, Tonia Murray, Emma Hartley, Michelle Gavin, Macey Boudreau, Ella C aka. Celeste, Ali Spagnola, Maya Davis, Mandy Rose, Serena Abweh, Dani Reardon, and Katie Lee, who's probably the upper limit for me.)

Aside from the fact that women who look like this are very rare, there's no way in hell that they'd ever be interested in a guy like me. Even if I do get in shape, I'm sure the saggy, stretched out skin would make them vomit. A woman with a perfect body is going to want a guy with a perfect body. Why would she settle for me when she can get Mr. Olympia? Plus, I'm pretty sure these types of women would make terrible wives/girlfriends. Self-obsessed, ultra-competitive, possibly abusive and I'd likely be insecure as fuck around her. And while I'm no expert on fitness, I know enough to know that most, if not all, of those women I listed are taking PEDs, as it is pretty much impossible for a woman to build that much muscle naturally. The only ones I think are likely natural are Ella, Ali, Maya, Mandy, Serena, and maybe Qimmah. Drug use is a dealbreaker for me and I know that if she is taking gear, one of two things will happen:

She'll eventually develop masculine characteristics (deep voice, manly jaw, facial/body hair and enlarged clit.)
She'll eventually stop taking them and lose all that muscle. For example, Dani after she quit bodybuilding a few years ago. Plus, she went vegan and that's another one of my dealbreakers. I have nothing against vegans and vegetarians, but I don't want to be with someone who's going to try and make me stop eating meat, or resent me for doing so. And if she is okay with it, then that shows a lack of commitment to your values IMO. Dating a meat-eater when you think eating meat is morally bad would be like me dating a serial-murdering cannibal when I think that is morally bad. Sure, some people go veg because they just want to eat healthier, but even then, there's too much potential for conflict. I think the only scenario where I'd be okay with dating a vegan or vegetarian would be if she's not doing it by choice. Like if she has a medical condition that pretty much forces her to go veg. You do you and I admire your commitment, but I have no intention of going vegan/vegetarian and it's one less thing to fight over.

I'm trying to figure out some way of eliminating my attraction to buff women. I don't know why I'm into them, because it's not normal. I know I'm not a closeted homosexual (as some idiots may suggest). I'd like to think it's because I like women with some meat on their bones and I like strong women, but it probably goes deeper than that. Maybe it's because of mommy issues or insecurities about my masculinity/lack of muscle. All I know is that it wasn't much of a problem for me until recently. Although I've always liked muscular women, I used to also be attracted to "normal" women. Since the past year or so, I'm almost exclusively attracted to muscular women. Probably due to a combination of pleasuring myself to these women, resulting in my standards going up, and weight-related problems which are making it difficult for me to be aroused at all. Maybe once I get in shape, ditch the porn and become comfortable with myself as a man, my preferences will broaden.

I agree. I always talk about the ugly hot phenomenon that happens with men. Sexually attractive does not necessarily have to mean good looking. Lots of women go crazy for men who are technically unfortunate looking, they just happen to ooze style & swagger.

I notice as I age things go wrong that I don't have the money to fix. It's like a car, parts wear out. You get some replaced but it's never going to be a new car again.

The trick is to find somebody who you can love while one another are in the shop.

I disagree. You need a baseline level of good looks to be able to be considered attractive to women. Ugliness / unattractiveness does exist, and is more common than you say.

An unattractive man can do the right things by hitting the gym, dressing well and generally looking after himself, but ultimately it's just papering over the cracks.

On the other side of the coin, I have a good friend who is unkempt, dresses in band tshirts and track pants, has a beer gut going on, but what he does have is baseline good looks. He gets plenty of attention from women, while we're out. I fall into the previous category, and get nothing.

Not true. Height is one of the most important things to women and you can't do anything about it. Beauty/ugly is more subjective.

Many people are being perceived as ugly by themselves and others because they allow themselves to put on weight, not wear nice clothes and so on.
