I wish I was given the option to chose what I wanted to do with my body but being born in a Muslim family means every single boy must be mutilated because some deluded desert war lord from 7th Centaury said so. Religions/cultures should not be allowed to mutilate baby boys. And no its not racist or Islamophobic to call out barbaric religions and cultures.

With current therapies and technology, circumcision is medically required zero percent of the time. The other common argument for circumcision is cosmetic; but why should anyone, other than the boy when he become an adult, and his partners, care what his genitals look like? They shouldn't. Finally, it's as easy to clean there as it is to clean your ears, and we don't cut off part of an infant's ears without anesthesia because it might be easier to keep them clean!

This unnecessary, barbaric procedure, which KILLS boys every year and permanently impairs countless more, should be consensual-ONLY, when a boy reaches adulthood. If a boy cannot get a tattoo, serve in the military, or drink alcohol, there is no reason to allow this kind of life-altering mutilation to occur.

I believe that MC is a violation of a person's bodily autonomy. One of the most shocking realities is that a surgery occurs affecting a baby.

But the true damage often isn't discovered till the body reaches adulthood, erectile dysfunction, loss of sensitivity, premature ejaculation. . . No recourse for the baby boy. No need for the harm.

Man here who had cosmetic penis (deformity called hypospadia) surgery at age 21, I spent a year with 13 stitches in my dick, in a hard cast, and basically pissing out of a coffee stirrer wedged up my urethra. I can say with a bit of very biased certainty that I think 99.9% of us probably would not bother getting circumsized as older men because the healing process is far more complicated when you get erections.

That being said, I was STILL circumcised at birth, view it as a barbaric violation of bodily autonomy and would've preferred to have a choice.

I had this happen to me, similar to 3 of my other brothers. It personally doesn't bother me at all. However, apparently, my parents thought that it had health benefits but after learning that it in fact had virtually none stopped with my two youngest brothers. My mother couldn't stand to be in the room when it was happening to the screaming of the children. but in the end, it really doesn't bother me, at least not yet.

I was uncircumcised because I was born I premature and had to be pulled out. I was bruised all over and my dad decided against it because he didn't want me to endure anymore pain.

You should mention the medical ethics. The standard to intervene on someone else's body is medical necessity. The Canadian Paediatrics Society puts it well:

“Neonatal circumcision is a contentious issue in Canada. The procedure often raises ethical and legal considerations, in part because it has lifelong consequences and is performed on a child who cannot give consent. Infants need a substitute decision maker – usually their parents – to act in their best interests. Yet the authority of substitute decision makers is not absolute. In most jurisdictions, authority is limited only to interventions deemed to be medically necessary. In cases in which medical necessity is not established or a proposed treatment is based on personal preference, interventions should be deferred until the individual concerned is able to make their own choices. With newborn circumcision, medical necessity has not been clearly established.”

To override someone's body autonomy rights the standard is medical necessity. Without necessity the decision goes to the patient themself, later in life. Circumcision is very far from being medically necessary.

I'm not cool with it. Being circumcised as a baby desensitized me. I have been mocked about it before but it takes a long time for me to finish during sex, to the point where it can take an hour or more. Ive turned down sex many times before because I know its going to take a long time. Ive never had the pleasure of being pleased orally to completion. I know many wouldn't think its an actual problem but its changed my outlook on sex to the point where I'm not really interested in all that work for a couple moments of ecstacy.

I view it as mutilation. Those who are the recipient get to set the terms for what is and is not mutilation so I don't want to hear any whackjob arguments "oh it's the same, blah blah." The fact is if me and a friend found an 18 year old man and excised his foreskin against his will nobody would dare argue it wasn't mutilation. It's no different on a child.

I’m totally fine with it. I like the way it looks and never really cared much for it whether it was circumcised or not but honestly kinda glad it is because I find foreskin kind of gross.

That being said more power to those who are fighting for choice rather than it being something we have no right in choosing for our bodies.

I feel torn.

The intactivist movement would benefit from demonstrating more empathy to adult survivors. The focus is on blame and outrage. Only this is very obnoxious as almost nobody (well, almost nobody male) engages in circumcision hypocritically.

I'm cut, so is my dad. So was my grandfather. So were my brothers.

And so was my eldest son. Yes, I regret that but at the time he was born I simply had no reason to question the practice.

I do not remember the procedure and have never experienced any lingering pain or obvious side effects. I do not consider my penis to be bad or wish to be shamed for how it looks.

All of that being said, my younger son is not circumcised. I simply do not think the benefits (if there are any) outweigh the risk of a botched procedure.

I realize you are probably looking for anti-circumcision statements, but to help show the complete topic, you will probably need to offer some countering views, so heres one:

I'm Jewish, so for me, it's an important religious custom.

I don't think it should be allowed for non-religious or non-medical reasons though. It's purely cosmetic, and serves no benefit; therefore it doesn't need to be done.

However, I'm not as outraged that it occurs as some people are. The magnitude of the change between circumcising and not circumcising really isn't that high. It's not the same as say, amputating an entire limb at birth. It's much more akin to a dog's tail being docked or ears clipped as a puppy. Cosmetic changes which can be considered abuse, but don't really have any major effect on the life of the person/dog. I don't like that it happens, but overall it's not something worth getting too upset over.

Overall, I think its a minor issue in men's rights. I'm much more concerned with men's rights in child custody cases/divorce settlements and the inherent bias against males in sexual assault allegations.

I mean.. it looks better circumcised i guess. But now i am forever robbed of the true sexual experience, all so a part of an external organ can be used in body lotion. So no i don't like that it happened, but it's not a huge deal for me. I wouldn't do this to a newborn.

I have mixed feelings.

On one hand I like how it looks and how convenient it is for urination and getting a bj etc. And I still get intense pleasure during sex and have no erectile distinction or premature ejaculation etc

On the other hand I'll never know how much better sex would have felt, or what being fully intact would have been like. That choice was made for me, and so I do feel robbed/ wronged too.

I always thought I had something wrong with my dick when I was really young because it didn't look like anyone else's, This is going back to the 80's when everyone got changed at swimming together kids and adults together. Now I love it, I reckon it's cleaner since I rarely get std's and I have been in some funky places.

Easier to clean, mrs likes the way it looks. I dont have a huge preference for how my dick looks tbh i care more about how my partner enjoys it. Shes the one who looks at it during and plays with it during sex

I had a circumcision at 20 due to a medical reason, so it wasn't choice but very much needed. I am extremely happy with the change in terms of health, hygiene and aesthetics. I do however appreciate many do not have the choice.

Sex feels great, idk what it's like to have foreskin but it's hard to imagine an improvement over current levels. My son is circumcised too but honestly I just wanted to have same experience as him and didn't think too much about it.

Sorry if it seems harsh, but I personally don't give a rat's about it,one way or the other,and find difficulty comprehending this seemingly recent trend of men complaining of being "violated" or their parents not asking their permission. When i was done,it was accepted as common practice to make it easier to maintain health and hygiene which my mother knew about being a nurse. I was a baby so i have no memory or trauma from it. And have known no other way of being to compare it too. Now,if someone had a botched circumcision,then they have a legitimate complaint. But I've also read stories of the disasters uncircumcised men have had coping with a foreskin,and when men have had to get circumcision for unexpected medical reasons as an adult. So, overall, It's affected me not at all.
