Don’t get your hopes up. The UN openly states that women living longer is “natural” in order to dismiss global differences in life expectancy favoring women in their official measures of gender inequality . In fact it’s actually possible for women to not out live men by “enough”, so that even though they live longer, they are still counted as disadvantaged compared to men with regards to life expectancy. Seriously.

It's good that they are prepared to recognise the problem. But:

- They admit the UN isn't doing anything about it.

- The only causes they are prepared to consider are those that fit into the feminist mythology that it's men's own fault. They don't, for example, consider the fact that there is much more spent on women's health than men's by governments, the UN & even charities like the Gates foundation. Australia seems to be one of the least bad places. But even here, there is much more money spent on women than men - partly as a result of the innumerable programmes for women. Yet it has been shown that the most cost-effective way to spend extra health money is on men's health. But no government is prepared to take that on...

- One of their solutions is:

Sounds like feminist brain-washing to me. I don't see how that's going to fix my Dad's prostate.

I'm pretty impressed with their conclusion:
"Men’s physical illness, for example, can impair the psychological health of their female partners; when men are sick, injured or die, households and female partners suffer a loss of income."
Can you imagine them saying women's health is important because it impacts men?

This statement is wrong on so many levels though it could be fixed with a simple edit to "SOME MEN" "Some Opportunities" while in other society i.e. Western Societies women enjoy those advantages.

That men tend to be in worse health than women has now been made clear by robust evidence from various sources.

That depends on which outcomes you measure. Men have higher mortality rates. But women have higher morbidity rates. Its called the health-survival paradox. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK242444/

I don't think that that is as true as people tend to think. in the U.S., men are still in charge in the work place. But women are still in charge in the household, no matter who earns more. (Farrell, Warren & Gray, John. The Boy Crisis.)

According to the WHO European Region’s review of the social determinants of health, chaired by Sir Michael Marmot, men’s poorer survival rates “reflect several factors – greater levels of occupational exposure to physical and chemical hazards, behaviours associated with male norms of risk-taking and adventure, health behaviour paradigms related to masculinity and the fact that men are less likely to visit a doctor when they are ill and, when they see a doctor, are less likely to report on the symptoms of disease or illness”.3

Norms can't be differentiated from the behaviors that they supposedly cause. They are not functional independent variables because they are influenced by the same things that they supposedly cause. (Barber, Nigel. The Myth of Culture. Chapter 3). I personally believe that the same is true of these concepts of "behavior paradigms" and "masculinity."
Doctors spend less time with men and provide them with less service per-visit than women. You can't put this all on the male patients. ( Williams, David R. (May 2003). A second approach involves partnering with men to improve women’s and children’s health. I thought this piece was about reducing the disparity against men. This is just changing the subject.

I read that paper that they are citing. The evidence isn't as strong as it sounds. Only 3 of the studies that they cited were randomized trials, and they were all measuring different outcomes.

The UK gender life gap at the turn of the last century was 1 year. By the 1960's, depending where you lived, it was up to 7years. Women still retired 5years earlier than men leading to a gender lifetime retirement gap with women living up to 12 years longer in retirement than men, even though men paid considerably more in contributions to the pot. But still in the media that was never mentioned, but just sold it as women suffer the most due to having to eek their savings out longer as they live on a pension longer. Truly the old Guardian headline joke is spot on....

"Meteor to strike the earth tomorrow wiping out all life..... Women most affected" 🤔
