I just aspire to be everything my husband wants and needs. I'll never completely get there, so I can always continue to find ways to improve. I don't have a female I strive to be like. I just strive to be a better wife based on knowledge of my husband and his personal desires.

I love that Zooey Deschanel takes pride in her femininity. Being feminine =/= being a dunce or being weak, and I think Zooey embodies that.

Watch Grace Kelly in Rear Window. She transforms and proves herself to be everything her man is looking for and more. She not a perfect example of a RPW, but I find the transformation much more admirable than the one in Grease for example because she becomes what her man wants while still retaining who she is.

Also it's just a good movie.

Not sure what you have against the classics... I can't believe I never saw a Marilyn Monroe movie till I was 24 but wow so great to actually see why she is the classic example of femininity. In The Prince and the Show Girl she single handedly repairs a broken father-son relationship, brings romance to the cold hearted prince and brings democracy to an Eastern European country all through the grace of innocent feminine charm. She may seem like a ditz to modern eyes but she knew what she was doing and it's part of that "act" that modern women have lost

I've said this before, but Michelle Duggar (not saying you have to be a fundamentalist).

But she's an excellent example of a submissive RPW. She puts her husband and children before herself, wears her hair and makeup and dress the way her husband likes, cooks and cleans, never argues or belittles her husband on camera (Kate Gosselin I'm looking at you), shows pride in all that she does for her family, never whines and moans about equality/feminism, is greatful and respectful.

Try watching some 19 Kids and Counting. Their beliefs religiously speaking are quite extreme, but their marriage is a true joy to watch as are her children.

The best example I've seen by far in modern-day television is Elizabeth Burke in the show White Collar. She's the wife of one of the main characters, Peter Burke.

Though at times they portray them as sort of a power-couple, both busy with their own careers (although hers is a more feminine one, event planning... while her husband is an FBI agent) she displays many RPW tendencies:

They have the older man, younger woman thing going on... She is frequently shown cooking in the kitchen and greets him warmly with a home-cooked meal whenever he comes home from a long day... She speaks to him sweetly and respectfully... she keeps her "hamster" in check, and when she needs to, she shows emotions like jealousy and frustration in an appropriate way (expressing her concerns gently and kindly, from a vulnerable place, as opposed to bitching, nagging, and being manipulative.)

That being said, she is an intelligent, capable person who can take care of herself when needed. I like that she rebuffs the notion of RPW being helpless, weak flowers or "pushovers" in the real world.

I also love their dynamic together... he treats her with the utmost care, respect, and love... and he's 100% faithful and loyal to her. This is especially important because it emphasizes the RPW principle of being submissive to a GOOD man. It is more than just giving every part of you freely to any guy who spits good game and lifts... you have to find a guy who is deserving of it.

Highly suggest watching the show, for both the RPW aspects and the plot itself, especially if you're into smart crime shows! It is on Netflix, I believe.

Interestingly enough I realized that Hunger Games has it's own RP angle... The heroine Katnis is mostly portrayed as the badass warrior killer who has to take care of helpless beta Peeta, but when she's around alpha Gale she becomes feminine and soft and wants to lean on him for support instead. Even though I thought that this movie was a prime example of the over masculine modern female role model, when you look at the context of the male's frame it shows that such a woman especially needs an Alpha man to handle her.

Queen Victoria is a good example of RP. She always deferred to her husband, and had very traditional views on gender relations and marriage. June Cleaver is a good fictional example of the housewife who always put family first and was a loving and attentive wife. Sorry I can't think of more examples right now but your question was food for thought.

This isn't really popular culture, but I watched a documentary about young Amish adults a little while ago, and the women are excellent examples of what you're looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnFKzYj-i38

The young women they follow aren't vapid or weak, but they are beautiful and feminine nonetheless. If you watch it all, you'll see how they view themselves and their place in life. They are concerned about having a feminine heart, perspective and skills rather than superficial things like makeup and high heels. They are also raised to see beauty in being "helpers" to their husbands, and providing excellent homes for their families.

In the documentary, they travel around Britain to view different ways of life. It's interesting to see their reactions to various types of people. They can't understand the desire for the women they meet to be so masculine and independent. They talk about the desire to be equal to men as being "futile."

I'd guess a large portion of wives from before the last century or so were fairly RP. It seems that our "entitled" culture and the influence of feminism has made RPW role models kind of rare these days.

I know a lot of you don't prefer religion entering the subject matter, but honestly, those are the first people I think of as RP role model wives. From biblical times to current day, I'd guess that most of the submissive wives in the world follow(ed) some sort of religion or another. I can't back this assumption up with facts, but I'd put a wager on it.

I suggest Elizabeth Montgomery from "Bewtiched". Devoted and loving and definitely on top of her game. Her character has much more depth that most tropes out there and her love for her husband lies right at the top.
