I know that this was discussed last year, but we have many new members since and I was hoping for a refresher and maybe some new ideas.

My husband HATES my everyday winter coat, but it is the warmest coat I've ever had. Not only is it puffy and unattractive, but it's started to get raggedy and make me look like a homeless person. I have a couple of other coats that meet the cute factor but are either very warm but impractical for daily use (giant fake fur coat that comes almost to my ankles), and a gorgeous suede jacket with no lining. I have a genetic illness that makes me extremely cold intolerant (a symptom which has continued to get worse as I get older), which is why I have foregone style in favor of warmth the last few years. It's time to invest in a new one and I am prepared to put down a pretty penny, so I want it to meet all of my qualifications and last me several seasons.

I will also be walking several miles a day through the snow and slush for work and need some versatile boots. I am on a tight budget and these items are going to be a huge investment for me, so I would like to find boots that are as warm as possible while still being able to wear them on a regular basis and have them compliment a cute outfit rather than something I would be embarrassed to wear indoors. Waterproof isn't terribly important because I hear Never Wet works quite well for waterproofing shoes. Am I just asking too much?

How do YOU stay warm and still cute? Can anyone recommend a fitted coat that has the warmth of a puffy and unattractive one? Are there any extra little things you do in the winter to feel more girly and compensate for the struggles of winter frumpiness? Is there a different sub you could recommend that specializes in this sort of thing?
