I think the extent of Alpha Widowhood is overblown by certain Manosphere writers into something that inevitably happens to every woman eventually, when it's really mainly present in particular subsets of women.

Consequent anomie and lack of personal development due to living in a ~~buyer~~ seller's market during formative years
Distorted self-image
Rides CC past late 20s
Eventually commits to a man who is or becomes a lesser beta

Red Pill aware women who choose good men carefully and spend their dating life in committed LTRs and avoid hook-up culture are unlikely to wind up in this position; indeed to someone of this life experience, it's difficult to relate to exactly what male writers are on about when describing the phenomenon of Alpha Widowhood.

I don't believe this exists on a high scale. I see men in RP who talk about not wanting to dump their girlfriend because they don't want to "alpha widow her" and how can they let her go gently. It makes me laugh. These guys want to believe that they are so important and memorable that a woman will think about them for years.

Some will, sure. But in reality, most women will get over a man in a few months, even a LTR or husband, and move on quite easily to another man. Meanwhile, he'll be thinking about her and feeling bad that he "alpha widowed" her because of his supposed awesomeness. It's a little awkward. I almost feel bad for these men.

I wish I would've known about RPW when I was 18. I grew up without a father figure and my mom was not a good parent. Without any guidance, I was instantly shaped by society (hook-up culture and feminism) and made A LOT of bad relationship decisions because I did not know any better. Thank goodness men like my fiance exist. On the outside I look like I have my shit together, but inside of me there is a lot of turmoil.

I guess I just don't "get" the whole alpha widow concept, maybe because I've usually been the one to initiate break-ups in relationships. I can only think of one case in which I moved on from a lover who wouldn't commit, but even then, I didn't think he was a 'god among men' or some such; I was pretty sure that if I re-entered the dating market, I'd find someone else, and I did.

I suppose if you've slept with Brad Pitt or George Clooney that might be some sort of peak experience, LOL, but how many of us are doing THAT? Do most women really have one guy who stands head-and-shoulders above the rest and ruins her for other guys? OTOH, my current partner is pretty awesome and if anything happened to him, I honestly don't think I'd find another person who is as compatible. So maybe I'd be an alpha widow after all!! :-o

I think maybe it's used to explain why some women have toxic relationships with their exes and they keep "going back." I don't know if there's a male equivalent to that. If a man ends an unfulfilling/unfaithful relationship I don't see him going back.

I don't claim to be a NAWALT, but I just couldn't screw a man over in that sense. even if he left me in the worst possible way, I wouldn't want the further drama and upset of battling with him and I would put my children first. I would rather make an informal agreement with a man than go to court and screw him over and if it had to go to court I would want to make things fair. I think plenty of women exist like this. It's just the nasty ones you hear about with no integrity, and there are men like this too. I think so assume all women are opportunistic and want to screw men over for resources is wrong. My mother never did this to my father, and she was a lot of things that were not that great. She did leave him for another man but she was very fair when they separated.
