Women don't earn as much as men because they don't want to. They don't want to work the dirty, dangerous, long-hours jobs that men work, because they have different priorities.

This is why they started focusing on "unpaid labor" like domestic chores and emotional support. It allows them to pad the numbers and claim that women actually work more than men, and that society is letting them down by not paying them for all of that non-work work that they do.

Watch: As women's pay continues to rise and eventually overtakes men's, as current projections suggest should happen in the next 15-25 years, feminists will pivot and explain that it's ok for women to earn more than men because women as a whole do more housework.

Yes, women want to be loggers, miners, bricklayers (99% male), construction workers, and roughnecks, but patriarchal oppression keeps them out of those professions.

Furthermore, if any women don't want to go into those professions, or STEM, then it's because of internalized societal pressure about "female" and "male" professions.

Oh I work at walmart in receiving. They always have us guys lug around the 1000 pound pallets and carry all of the heavy things while the women do clothing and break packs. Only one exception is this one lady and she is tough as nails.

I work retail. As of 5/26 i have 140 hours overtime YTD. I work 6 days a week more often than not.

In most (all?) developed countries it is illegal for a man to get paid more dollars per hour to do the exact same job as a female colleague undertaking the same duties at the same level.

Just an anecdote but my wife is ~10 years younger than me and is at a level that earns her roughly $50k more than me a year. However, I’ll bring home more $$$ at the end of each financial year.

We have very different ways of approaching work and it’d be disrespectful of me to share too much online. However, over the course of our careers:
1. I’ve invested more.
2. I’ve done a lot more overtime (and dangerous/undesirable work at times).
3. I expect to have a career that is 25-30 years longer due to her having much younger retirement expectations (I’ll emphasise in no way due to having kids).

During this time I suspect:
1. My final base wage will be significantly higher than hers (3-4x) and hers has probably peaked already. Whereas, my base wage is largely lower because I’ve chosen to take pay cuts periodically for developmental reasons (i.e. so I learn/develop a more well rounded approach so that I avoid hitting my level of incompetency too soon).
2. Even if it isn’t, 25-30 years of savings and investments will be almost equal to her entire career (this is just from me starting work younger and being willing to work longer).

Food for thought if you’re a bra burning feminists looking for reasons why many men earn more over the course of their career and why men take up a lot of the really senior roles. Affirmative measures can get more women into the workplace and promote them quicker... but they can’t give them more years of experience, a desire to work harder/longer and the patience that one develops by developing slower/steadier.

I worked 175 hours between the 15th and the 31st last month and that was witha rain day. I'm surprised oil and gas indudtry isn't on the list because it would probably be neer the highest for hours worked.
