Not as such. I have felt discriminated against because women who were weaker physically got pushed faster through promotions (military... women in the military get betters scores for worse physical performance than men).

I've said this before. MRA's tend to have a strong belief in equality. Hence, a lot of us started as feminists, and when we tried to address inequalities that men face, were summarily booted from the movement. Warren Farrell is a good example of this. He was on the board for NOW. Wanting to address the inequalities that boys face caused him to get booted.

Me personally, it's the way feminists handled things I faced personally. I was raped and the way they acted towards that fact disgusted me completely.

Yes. I do think that since I am a guy I have been denied degrees of sympathy, empathy, understanding and compassion that are readily extended to women. Now while I know some may be quick to think that things like those don't matter as much as jobs, pay, etc... but you'd be surprised how much good those things do.

How did become involved/find out about in this community?

I found it in my efforts to find space to talk to guys without worry of judgement by women.

No. I talk to feminists and can actually see eye to eye with some of them on a lot of stuff but I never identified as such.

What are some of the main problems men face, and how do they affect you personally? (Examples: custody battles, the draft, manliness and masculinity, you can't voice your beliefs because X and Y reason ect.)

Manliness and masculinity at the top for sure. These days the conversation on gender is dominated by a narrative that masculinity has been poisoned and is poisonous and treats men as if we are sick and need a cure. Most of the time however that cure is only being administered because there is some benefit to women. There needs to be room made for the idea of helping and supporting men for their own sake first and foremost. Trickle Down Equality (the notion of making women/girls top priority in everything with the hopes that some of the benefits will trickle down to men) will not work.

Can I have permission to put these in my project?

I don't mind at all. In fact I hope you do because most of the time when someone cites this reddit they do so for the sole purpose of digging up the meanest, nastiest comments they can find and pass them off as representative of the entire space. Its time to counter balance that.

I almost forgot about the wage gape but that doesn't exist.

I would say that there is a gap but the people who quote "Women make X less than men for the same work" and X is more than say 10% are basically lying. Most sources for X being greater than 10% don't account for time worked, experience, and other factors. Once they are accounted for the pay gap falls to like 5%. While pay discrimination does happen it doesn't happen as often as many would like for you to believe. So if you do bring up the wage gap don't just declare that it doesn't exist and have sources to back it. And if someone tries to say that the gap is larger ask them to source their claim and I bet most likely its a source that cooks the numbers to get as big of a gap as possible.

And other thing. Try to not to get bogged down in comparing men to women. Just lay out how men are affected.

Yes, I sometimes feel cheated because I'm a man. As soon as I was born, a piece of my body was sliced off. I wish I still had it, so I could experience what it's like! And I had to register for the draft right as my country was getting ready to fight a major war, which women didn't have to do. And if I want a date, society expects me to go ask for it, while women are allowed to sit back and wait to be asked. Being a shy, introverted person, that is really inconvenient. Not to mention all the scholarships and programs that exist to help women but not men.

Before, I would not say I was a feminist, but I agreed with feminism and thought it was necessary, which I no longer believe. The weird beliefs of feminists made me begin to question it. Then I took a closer look at real evidence, and here I am.

The main problems men face, I think, is: death! Men are more likely to suffer a violent crime, yet my country passes a Violence Against Womwn law. Men have a lower life expectancy, yet there are numerous promotions and programs for women's health and hardly any for men. Men are far, far more likely to be killed in an accident at work, yet constantly hear about that stupid pay gap instead. Most soldiers killed or crippled in war are men, yet Samantha Bee whines about military hospital prosthetics that don't fit women.

All the time and none of the time. The thing is you get acclimatized to anything. I imagine it's the same if you were asking black people about being black or disabled people born that way. You don't have an experience of being treated any better to compare it with so it's hard to judge. I imagine it's also hard for women to realize their privilege because they've never been men.

But often you hear older women complain because they say as they age they become "invisible". Almost all men are invisible. But they aren't just invisible but also disposable and worth nothing except for what they do, not who they are. That's why depressed men skip out pretending to commit suicide and just go right ahead and do it. For a woman suicide is "selfish" because she considers herself a positive to the world just for existing. A man is never that. A man must earn his place and if he cannot then the really selfish thing is to continue to live because he's a burden on others.

Kids as young as four and eight (respectively) realize that girls are worth more than boys in our society.

So to feel cheated specifically over some specific thing you have to remember that life could have been very different but it's like an abstract realization like my life could have been different if I'd been born in Mozambique too. Its not often you think, yeah they'd never have done that to a woman, or yeah a woman could have just done this or that and been fine. But if you stop to think about it that's really everything in your life, but I suppose if I had to try and target it more, it's everything that involves other people. Things don't discriminate, so I guess guys often withdraw to a life concentrated on things instead of people.

I don't know. It's like asking did I ever believe in Santa Clause. I have no memory of it but I wouldn't be surprised you believe a lot of stupid things as a kid.

What are some of the main problems men face

I know that you know the banner headline list of stuff like getting your children stolen from you (probably about the worst thing that can happen to any human and it routinely happens to men), or dying years sooner, but I do think that just being a second class citizen your whole life is a huge problem that goes unrealized even among men (as above because you don't live your life thinking about what could have been). As a woman you're allowed to talk to people in situations a man would be arrested for. So as a man you have to sort of be dead inside your whole life. You're not a person you have to be a thing, because everyone treats you as a thing and things will treat you better than people. It's easier to become a thing than try to be a person and constantly fail.

This has massive impact on a man's life in all sorts of ways. Like kids. Can you love your own kids knowing there's a good chance they will be stolen? Do you try to keep in touch with them after a divorce knowing they will be used as emotional blackmail? Or do you cut the loss and give up? Or dating. Do you try to see (if you are heterosexual) each of the women who reject you as a person, so it's more and more painful each time, or do you try to impersonalize the whole experience, which is what leads to what is now called "sexual harassment" when men treat women like an object because that's how women always treat men (and how men treat men) and it's easier to get rejected by a system than by a hundred different people? There's a reason women date "bad boys" which is because the "bad boys" got bad as a necessary psychological self-defence in the process of trying so often and therefore being rejected so often. The process is dehumanizing (of course that is why women make men do it like they make men do ever other shitty job).

Still you could have been born in Mozambique, right?

I dropped my grades in uni from straight firsts to thirds over the course of a semester due to mildly criticising a few feminist concepts. Are you sure this is a good idea? By the time I comprehended that this was a complete shibboleth in the politics department the damage was done and returning to top grades every assignment only yielded a 2:1 degree.

I'd suggest it's better to toe the party line as a student and consider the time spent as reconnaissance for when you get a little more academic freedom.

Women are not held accountable for their actions to the same extent that men are - in all aspects of life. This negatively affects men in a multitude of ways. Too many to mention.
People are generally more friendly and nice to you when you're a woman. This benefits women in many ways and negatively affects men in many ways. Too many to mention.
Women can put on a sad or upset face and blatantly LIE, and the person on the receiving end is asked to apologise by observers. Men ALLOW women to manipulate them and others around them even when it's blatantly obvious. That's a simple example. Women can do much more manipulation because men allow themselves or other men to get manipulated.
The suffering of women gets our upmost consideration and the suffering of men gets zilch. This negatively affects men in a multitude of ways. Too many to mention.
Women have the privilege of being persued by others who initiate contact with them, on a regular basis, even outside of a sexual or romantic context. Being socialble and making lots of friends and being popular helps to improve one's mental health. If I was female, I would have loads of friends who I could speak to all day every day on a regular basis. It's impossible for a female to have no friends unless she is quiet or bullied. (Notice how I never said socially awkward. A female can be socially awkward and still have lots of friends. Only men have to be good conversationalists.)
If a woman is homeless, the government would give her more help than they would a man.
If I want a girlfriend, I am expected to have my own apartment and money and a car, but a woman who wants a boyfriend can work in McDonalds and be unemployed and that's okay.
Growing up I have seen ugly women get persued by attractive men, but attractive men are constantly rejected by women. I'm not saying I'm ugly, but there's a disparity in the quality of men a woman can get, and the quality of women a man can get. A man being attractive is not a guarantee that he can get a girlfriend, whereas a woman can be ugly and get a boyfriend.

I was just curious at first just looking around lurking, but I didn't understand the need for MRAs in society. I didn't get the point. When I surfed the internet and inadvertently found out that men are the disposable sex, I realised that MRAs primarily exist to stop male disposability.

Women hold ALL the privilege in society, the suffering of women gets maximum consideration and the suffering of men gets zilch. It's females who hold the true power, because males exist to serve females and throw their own gender under a bus. Even though it's the men in the suits who are politicians, millionaires and CEOs, it is the women telling the men what to do and the men fully comply, so it's the women who make the rules.

I just have one point to raise in your questions, I work for a multinational steel company 12 hour shifts, it's not a hard job but it is male dominated and can be tough work at times. The company is going for a 50/50 gender neutral workforce which is fine, but I disagree with it to a few points. One in which they just completed a big recruitment drive had about 100 applicants get a walkthrough the place. Each group of about 20 had 3 women. Now they have said they will fire 50/50 so if 10 jobs come up 5 will go to a women regardless of any potential male being more qualified than her.

They recently hired a paint storeman, who is a women the company had to rewrite each SOP to be gender neutral for the job because she is a woman. Now the other issue we are now having is that she is quite incompetent at her job, we have had to spend well over 100 hours just trying to train her in driving a fork lift. Tell me she was the best person for the job? If she was a male and that bad at her job they would of replaced him already as they have done in the past. And if the storeman was a male, would of had shreds torn off him for being bad at his job.

So now the delivery drivers wait until they know she has clocked out then come in to drop off their goods or take products away. So it has increased the workload of other people in the place, and this lady maintains hers job.

1) Yes. I lost an internship after the company rolled back its interviewing process to the second round to get more "diversity applicants" in hopes of cashing in on a proposed tax break. The woman who got the position had a GPA more than 1.0 worse than mine, no relevant work experience, and two open cases with the university's honor court--but she was one of only two women who applied to the position.

3) I was stumbling around the internet and found one of Karen Straughan's videos. I didn't know that this was a thing before then.

4) Yes. I did some activist work with a local group supporting the Rape is Rape campaign. I had a lot of major personal stuff happen in the span of about a year, a woman attempted to rape me at knifepoint, was the victim of a lot of stuff and saw that the feminist perspective was missing some stuff.

5) As for what's happened to me, legal acknowledgement of rape victims is a huge problem. When she attempted to rape me, I couldn't go to police because it wasn't a completed rape since I managed to run away and state law doesn't acknowledge male victims. Shortly after this, Dear Colleague happened, the Amherst case happened (a male victim was expelled after he was raped when the woman who raped him filed a false accusation after confessing it), and the terrible situation for male victims somehow got worse. Domestic violence is another huge issue (one that I care more about because I think that we're further away from fixing)--most legislation, interventions programs, policing guidelines, etc. are based on the Duluth Model, which assumes that domestic violence is always the fault of men and completely disqualifies male victims. Male victims who call 911 are more likely to be jailed than helped by police because of policies like mandatory arrest coupled with gender profiling (ie police are required, by law, to arrest someone and often trained to assume that it's always the man's fault, even when he's the victim).

Also, once I called the police because I had been assaulted and the dispatcher basically told me to man up.

Forced circumcision. Forced registration for selective service. Ignorance of their rights under the law. Lack of domestic abuse resources. Lack of empathy towards them and their problems. Not that sexual harassment does not exist, but trivial and non-legal claims about 'sexual harassment' when men are merely trying to share their sexuality/flirt or even when they aren't trying to do so and people assume that they are. Lack of programs in higher education for male students in fields like dietetics and psychology.

Can't honestly say I've been cheated, I was a tradesman for nearly 2 decades and that meant I almost exucisively worked with men, in my private life I've always been super careful not to put myself in spurious situations, in my social life I don't keep a lot female friends (mmmainly cause they treat me like a comoditity and I don't need that. That's an interesting question, it was a slow reliastion i guess. Once I started to hear words like 'rape culture' and 'cis gendered' my red flags started to go off and I began researching what was happening. I always identified with left politics and I noticed that these accusations came from only the left, rape between me and my community was and is considered absolutely abhorrent and my sexual prefrece and acceptance to others sexual preference was always on the for front for me. All of a sudden my political community was lumping me with pedo's, rapists and the oppressors whilst I spent my life trying fight those elements of society. Then came the gender politics and I was very worried and went searching for like minds who were ready to stand up and fight back, I was already redditior and found a like minded community, so that's how I got here. Yeah sort of, I did buy into the women were (past tense empahaticly) oppressed, they deserve the right to earn, vote and dress as they like and I was like who in their right mind would demand that they not, but a little peice of me was always like why is it called feminism and not equality. As I grew and looked deeper into the issues I realised a lot of it wasn't because of misogyny but nesessity or because religion. Catholicism and its one male god exculisivly had a lot to with the segregation of women. Men weren't born with the right to vote, we fought for that on the basis we pay tax we deserve representation, men fought the system for the right to own land and vote, and because the work industry before the industrial revolution was 99 % manual labour that excluded a lot of women but also women doing the other half of life, rearing dozens of children in the hope of preserving the family unit. It wasn't until women got into the work place and demanded the equal opportunities which is deserving, it wasnt that men took those rights away from woman so much as they didn't have the chance to fight with us, so I guess what I summing up to is men once fought for the rights that women also had to fight for, so if I can figure that out these educated feminist didn't figure this as well or refused to and led me to believe feminists either choose to ignore this or are not properly informed and now they are on par with religion when it was the main oppressor not the 'patriarch'. Those were some of the triggers that lead me to beilive that feminism isn't about equality. That main problem that affected me was the custodial disputes, as a child the product of divorce I have seen the worst of it, I know it's changing slowly to equalise and with the current win of same sex marriage in my country the move wil further push towards a balance. The other main problem is the gender imbalance, in the 60's women wanted more rights and and gender balance, fair so, and they changed their situation but men didn't, so to explain it in a simiplised way men and women each had half cake, each half shitty and good in there own ways, women came for thier other half of the cake more power to them but men were still happy with only half and now women have a whole cake and men have half and women want more whilst complaining our peice is still to much, it doesn't seem fair. Yes you may use my words I hate that the wage gap has been a myth since and known since the early 70's and it's still been thrown in my face.

Hmm, well I've not experienced anything personally because I'm relatively feminist proof believe it or not, I don't have the same problems as a lot of guys here despite living in a very left wing neighbourhood. I do get into arguments with people about feminism but really that's about it, but that's because I've deliberately set myself up so that I'm in a position to be able to have these arguments without worrying about lunatics that will try to wreck my life. On Reddit they certainly like to call me names when they dare to venture over here and accuse me of all kinds of crap but yeah nothing major, just the usual "You're a misogynist, Islamaphobe, Xenophobe" etc. etc.

However when it comes to my hobby and hopefully my career, the games industry has been frequently under attack from feminists and is what originally got me to notice feminism in the first place. All of a sudden for no reason I was seeing articles everywhere attacking my hobby and claiming it was 'sexist' and that because I play games and am a gamer I am therefore also a sexist. If you want information on that I highly recommend checking out some videos by David Rubin.

So this was my initial interest, then I had the misfortune of being daft enough to try arguing properly with hardcore anti-capitalists who ended up banning me from one of their subs here on reddit and called me an "MRA Rape Apologist" because I dared to criticise feminism and that lead me to the MRA sub which I had never heard of before.

I think one of the big reasons I stick around is not just because of the very obvious threat feminism represents not just to men, but to women as well and to free speech but the fact that seem absolutely determined to kill off the white working and middle classes and they're going to be my primary customers as a games developer. The reason I think it's feminists doing this is because of the way they frequently advocate for policies that put them in incredibly difficult situations that pretty much make them want to kill themselves like alimony and child support which they can't afford. Not to mention the really disgusting ways they're treated with child custody laws and domestic violence laws.

I don't mind you putting my story in, I'm an Anarcho-Voluntaryist and I'm unbearably close to becoming a professional games developer with my first game release.

Pretty much family laws (this applies to Asian countries too for the most part). They were appropriate maybe 40-50 years ago. But since then, all changes have been to the detriment of men. India doesn't have weird rape laws like the west yet thankfully. But as someone living in the west at least for a couple more years, that concerns me a bit too. I also dislike this global attitude which treats womanhood as some kind of disability. It keeps trying to encourage women, asking them to compete with men, giving them quotas and scholarships and so on.. The goal should be to allow women to achieve whatever they desire and not make it a farcical competition with men, who have a different role to play in the average human society.
