My email to this university: Whether this is legal or conforms to your identified position policy, offering female only positions is a disgrace. It is prejudicial against men, already under-represented at university and insulting to women because it says they need special help. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I studied at this university. It is such an awful place. I had to get legal advice to be able to sit an exam late after I was diagnosed with a tumor and had to have emergency surgery. They then offered me a scribe for a math exam... Then offered me to do it digitally. Took a while before I got a fair chance.

Here's the things though, the majority of teaching staff at universities is already female. It's just the most senior roles in some areas they are looking at, blaming the discrepancy on everything other than women not being as interested in the subject in the same numbers or making career choices that suit them, whilst remaining near-silent on the overall majority or absolute female dominance in some subject areas.

Oh my god dude. Just saw the crest while browsing this sub.

ANU is absolute cancer. I left after 1 year of Law/Commerce because it was so frustrating. Burgmann College was even worse: a hell within a hell.

They had signs on the front of all the toilets that said "If you think someone's gender doesn't match this bathroom, BE QUIET, they know more about it than you do!" So I did what any normal person would do and used the female bathrooms because they were cleaner, and immediately was punished by the college.

I never looked back, doing much better at a more reasonable uni, and I don't even regret leaving the ANU scholarship behind, the place is a hive of scum and villainy.

What's the position? Because some positions do need to be female-only if the job requires the individual to be in private, female-only spaces. Or if the job requires intimate interaction with other females (such as a female TSA worker patting down a female passenger) I'd assume the same for males & 'male-only' job postings as well.
