A well argued essay. Hope the author doesn't get lynched. In the modern world heresy is still a crime punished by society.

people seem to forget that most people only have one primary career. if they choose medicine, gender studies or history of indigenous peoples then they wone be choosing Mathematics, chemical engineering or taking up plumbing. If people choose to be stay at home parents then the time will come out of their chosen career. If they choose to return to work but only accept work that allows them to be at the school plays, finish at 3 pm to pick up the kids and stay in the same are to not disrupt the kids , then the employment choices are less and the employer has more applicants. Then market forces mean that wages are probably going to be lower.

The leftists and SJWs seem to be self-destructing with rage over this essay and I can't understand why. This seemed like a perfectly reasonable point of view and the author clearly wants to have an open honest discussion about these issues.

The quicker we remove skin colour, ethnicity and gender from these discussions the better. If we need to discuss disparity of income based on “caring responsibilities” then thats a society issue more than a work place issue. In the western world most families have one bread winner that works excessively and one person who concentrates on the family and works very little. How to make these two roles more balances and if they remain unbalanced how these two roels are allocated is where the discussion should be.

I personally hope that each family can be mature enough to decide how to do this in their own way but they should keep the employers out of the discussion and stop the straw man of sexism as the reason incomes differ. Ther may be sexixm in who gets to stay home with the kids and who gets to work the overtime, push for the promotion and travel to the mining camp 2 weeks on 2 weeks off to pay for the families lifestyle.

The Gizmodo page now has a reply from their new "VP of diversity". The reply essentially starts with:

And like many of you, I found that it advanced incorrect assumptions about gender. I’m not going to link to it here as it’s not a viewpoint that I or this company endorses, promotes or encourages.

So they have already proven his point for him - if you have a different point of view then we will shut you down.

Reconsider making Unconscious Bias training mandatory for promo committees.

We haven't been able to measure any effect of our Unconscious Bias training and it has the potential for overcorrecting or backlash, especially if made mandatory.

Some of the suggested methods of the current training (v2.3) are likely useful, but the political bias of the presentation is clear from the factual inaccuracies and the examples shown.

Spend more time on the many other types of biases besides stereotypes. Stereotypes are much more accurate and responsive to new information than the training suggests (I'm not advocating for using stereotypes, I [sic] just pointing out the factual inaccuracy of what's said in the training).

If I go to a doctor and they tell me vaccines cause autism, I'd fire them as my doctor. There's plenty of research, and if they haven't bothered to find it then they're not much of an expert. If a HR team is similarly incompetent ...

And yeah, maybe there's some magic mandatory bias training that's not shit. But if it's clear that the programs at Google are not working, I suspect that there was absolutely no awareness of the well-established flaws that the diversity program often have. And putting your fingers in your ears and saying "They'd work if people weren't shitlords", well, if your solution is that people magically agree with you from the get-go then you're not making any useful contribution.

There is a general assumption that the author has to be male, but if they are female that would truly kick the SJWs where it hurts in The Googles.

I think it's great document, and applicable to government just as well as to Google.

How the author is treated by Google will determine Google's future as a business with the likes of Bing et al waiting in the wings as alternatives if they are unfairly punished for what is a perfectly reasonable position.

Without checking, I'm super-confident that exactly 50% of all computer science students at every college are females. I'm also certain that they all get the exact same grades as the male students.

So if 50% of computer engineers at any given tech company are not female, the only possible reason is SEXISM.

Any suggestion of an alternate explanation should be met with expulsion from society, if not death.

We can't thrive in a world where science and freedom of speech are more important than EMPATHY and FEELINGS.
