Australian parliament inquiry hears about fathers' rights to see their children, and a feminist cunt reporter skews and dishonest media portrays it as watering down child safety.

Men are always labelled rapists and paedophiles when sexually abusing minors. But not women. A bright head professor's research says - women sex offenders often don’t fit the “mould of what many consider a predatory paedophile".

So why are all the articles and safety tips aimed at women? Why are we gathering safety groups to run with, running with personal alarms, and cutting our runs short so we’re not out after dark? Why aren’t we asking men to fix what they broke?

Because "men" didn't break it, you retarded cunt. A bunch of criminals who happen to have penises did. The people who put them in jail also had penises, btw. As did the people who built that trail you're running on, and the people who designed the robots that made your $200 running shoes and lycra pants that let your muffin top hang out. As well as all the other infrastructure that allowed you to get a job that required no physical effort and got you fat enough to require jogging to begin with.

Profile us all you want, play the probabilities and take the proper precautions. But leave us the fuck alone. What's next, asking black men not to wear scary clothing? Asking muslims not to wear such scary beards? Your feelings are not more important than our rights. Grow the fuck up!

[–]Archibald_Andino 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if men should have to follow her same "stay the fuck away from me" rules if they were responding to a house fire near her... or a natural disaster in her area, etc?

Author Margaret Atwood said, “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”

Question is, do men actually kill women? More than the baseline level of murder? Hint: men are 90% of perps (at least, convicted perps, grain of salt may apply), and 75+% of victims.

a whopping 43 per cent of women sometimes experience harassment on the street when they run. That’s in contrast to the 4 per cent of men who experienced the same.

Or men simply set a higher bar for harassment. As in, I don't think most men would report women looking his way for several seconds, maybe while talking among themselves, as harassment. Reverse not true.

You’re a genuinely nice guy who needs to be more aware of this problem

No, I do not need to be more aware. The author simply presume to project her own needs, and expects catering.

Either way, the fact that women feel unsafe when they’re out running in public is directly attributable to men.

Proof?

So why are all the articles and safety tips aimed at women?

Because men don't need to be told twice. Or ten times over. Women delight in the validation it provides. Many articles => danger is real => my feelz are validated.

Why aren’t we asking men to fix what they broke?

'Men' is all of us, whereas 'they' is murderers. All men should pay for murderers, because AMALT.

The problem is that women can’t tell the difference between those problem men and the genuinely nice guys.

I fail to believe women are that stupid.

.

Follows a list of 22 orders directed at men (only 14 at absolutely all men, though).

My list is shorter :

  • go fuck yourself.

.

Oh, and since she likes hastags: #notyourmeatshield

[–]987987879879 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't think you understand.

Women can read minds and know that nice guys are actually assholes.

Women don't know that nice guys aren't murderous rapists, and are simply walking to and fro places in a populated area, so guys need to make the women more comfortable.

Remember, things guys need are entitlements. Things women need are needs. Women can read your mind and rightfully reject you, but they can't read your mind when you walk down the street because humans are not mind readers.

The guys who hurt them are nice guys who manipulate them. Everything is the man's fault. Women are so strong.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

EVERTHING IS THE MAN'S FAULT?!?! Your brainwashed ass better be lesbian because I NEVER want to be in a relationship with you. Unless you're sarcastic in that case you're a legend.

[–]Dis_mah_mobile_one 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Perfect. The fact that if you told her all these things she would interpret it as "threatening" shows how correct you are. The feminine has a deep, near pathological need for a perfect sense of "security", one that is impossible to bring about. And naturally, since it is obviously men's job to do everything a woman wants this manifests as a drive for what women truly want from men, control.

[–]BDMR_lurker 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They think they want security, when they only mistake it for control.

And control is an illusion.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In caveman days, if a man killed a woman, that was deadly. If a woman laughed at a man and made him a pariah, that was deadly. Saber tooth tigers.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don’t hang around running trails or paths wearing a hoodie and doing nothing in particular.

Sometimes I hang around public parks doing nothing in particular. It's on my conscience.

Why am I telling you this? Because as a man, you fall into one of two categories:

  1. You’re a genuinely nice guy who needs to be more aware of this problem

  2. You’re a man who makes women feel unsafe when she’s running in public (shame on you!).

Either way, the fact that women feel unsafe when they’re out running in public is directly attributable to men.

https://web.archive.org/web/20130530220253/http://www.the-spearhead.com/2013/02/20/michael-kimmels-quack-sociology/

According to Kimmel, because some men commit DV, some men don’t talk about it, and some men are tasked with dealing with crime and moral issues, we all must change. It doesn’t really make any sense, but it might sound convincing to some people.

OK, say there’s a heroin problem in some country, such as Switzerland. Some people are shooting heroin, some are selling it, and some are enacting and enforcing laws to deal with it. Most people – the vast majority, even – don’t talk much about it, because it isn’t a part of their lives.

So, this being the case, all Swiss people must change. Yes, they all bear guilt, and must think deeply about how they can change themselves to relieve themselves of the terrible burden of their shame. It doesn’t matter whether they use or sell dope, or even whether they have even seen it: they are part of the problem, and must change.

Kimmel is pushing guilt onto innocent people. It’s a tricky tactic, and works in Christian, guilt-based societies (probably not for much longer, though), but it’s manipulative and dishonest.

Feminists who think like the author treat all men as potential rapists and that we should "teach men not to rape", yet in the same breath they want us to protect women and make them feel safe.

I do not own an irony alert siren that is loud enough.

[–]blueoak9 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

"DEAR man on the street, I’m writing to ask for your help."

Before we get started, why are you asking me to take steps to make you safe that you appear unwilling to take yourself? If you can't be bothered to provide your own security, why should anyone else? Do you realize how entitled and privileged you are even to ask such a thing?

"As a female runner, I am constantly aware of my safety when I’m out on an evening run. What is behind me? Do I hear anything strange? Why is that man running towards me? What is making those bushes rustle?"

As a man walking the street I do all of that and more.

And I am always home before dark.

"Author Margaret Atwood said, “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”

Well she is bullshitting. The stats are very clear - men have much more to fear than you do. The difference is we don't go around flaunting our fear in manipulative and self-serving ways.

"You may think that’s hyperbole, but I promise you, it’s not. Every woman I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger."

Oh, it's not hyperbole, it's just irrelevant to any actual security threat. Fear is not risk. However it's a lot more relevant to feeling dainty and fragile and vulnerable and feminine. See also "toxic femininity."

"Can you imagine that?"

Can you imagine that men face more and bigger threats that than you and your kind do? Can you imagine what it's like to have a woman falsely accuse you and to be surrounded by an angry flash mob? Can you imagine what it's like to have a woman sic her boyfriend on you over some imagined slight in a bar?

You can't. That would take empathy, and it's plain from the picture what you are and why that's not going to happen.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Fear is always a personal choice. If women are truly spending their lives in that kind of fear, that's on them not anyone else.

[–]xNOM 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well... I'd try to make the distinction there between RATIONAL fear, and IRRATIONAL fear.

RATIONAL fear is based on significant risks, which can be reduced. IRRATIONAL fear is based on childishness only. If every reader of this news story did everything she asked, it would not reduce the likelihood of her being killed. She is not interested in solving the actual problem. This is how children behave.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Point of fact, "fear" is a response to ignorance. Eliminate or otherwise minimize the ignorance and the fear will fall away.

That's why I say fear is a personal choice.

[–]xNOM 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When I go rock climbing I'm afraid of falling. It has nothing to do with ignorance. Risks can be real. Fear is the evolutionary result of having to deal with them. People not afraid of falling will soon be dead.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You don't know that you'll fall or not; that's where the uncertainty comes in. You're also afraid of death; the greatest unknown there is.

These fears are not insurmountable, and ARE controllable.

[–]MrRokosBasilisk 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The feminasties and SJfascists are seriously intent on bringing back Victorian values but skewed to fit their narrative.

Their language and thought policing means there is ever more stuff that you can't say in mixed company - "not in front of the women".

Their safe spaces are bringing back segregation of sexes and races.

Their Puritanism is promoting censorship of heterosexuality in games and comics.

This article is basically opening the door for escorts whose job it is is to keep the womens safe.

Except, this time around they'll likely try to make it so men require the escorts to ensure recent moral behavior not women. It's already happening in universities where fraternities are now required to have consent lectures at the entrance to their parties and consent monitors inside the party.

[permanently deleted]

[–]MrRokosBasilisk 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this is pretty accurate. The moral majority in the past was made up mainly of women and priests. Women have always decided what was " proper behavior " in the public sphere. I think it's becoming obvious there are biological factors which determine people's political and moral attitudes. The portion of society which in Victorian times enforced repression of sex and ensured deference to authority are still with us. Except now they clothe their Puritan and authoritarian tendencies in the language of feminism and social justice. "All this has happened before and will happen again "

[–]NibblyPig 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Every woman I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger.

Can you imagine that?

Yes. Every guy has too when walking around at night or leaving a club at 2am and having to walk past lots of drunk people roaming around the town.

[–]Avambo 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is just wrong on so many levels. Just... wow... How can anyone be this entitled and delusional?

[–]double-happiness 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Every woman I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger.

Can you imagine that?

Oh really? I've had a couple of goons hang me out the back of a van with the doors open, travelling along a dual carriageway, with cars right behind, because I spoke to someone the 'wrong way'. How many women have ever been in a situation like that?

  • Don’t stop and chat. Mid-run is no place to strike up a new friendship

  • If you see a woman who could be being harassed, stop and ask if she needs help.

  • Tell us if you’ve seen something threatening ahead.

Do these not seem a bit contradictory?? If women are so truly terrified of us speaking to them in public I hardly think a speculative approach to ward off some imagined danger is going to be welcomed. The woman might have a heart attack! /s

• Don’t run directly behind us at the same pace. Either overtake or fall behind.

So we are expected to change our pace to appease you? Fuck off.

• When you’re overtaking us, say something like, ‘Passing on your left’. And then pass quickly.

How about an ass slap instead? Don't tell me how to signal my passing.

• Don’t hang around running trails or paths wearing a hoodie and doing nothing in particular.

Now you are gonna give me fashion advice? Fine, I will wear my flasher raincoat next time.

• Smile and/or wave as you run past us — we like feeling like we’re part of a community. But ignoring us works fine too, if that’s your thing.

I prefer to scowl at the women who dare sully my running path with their presence.

• Don’t stop and chat. Mid-run is no place to strike up a new friendship.

That's why I just yell obscenities instead, much more appropriate for the running path.

• Keep eye contact to a minimum. Anything longer than two seconds is creepy.

Implying you deserve any amount of eye contact at all. I would rather look at your boobs.

• If you see a woman who could be being harassed, stop and ask if she needs help. At worst, you’re wrong and you feel a little sheepish. At best, you could stop something terrible from happening.

Wait, I thought stopping to chat was a nono?

• Tell us if you’ve seen something threatening ahead. Are the lights under the bridge out? We love to know stuff like that.

Again, talking to the scared little girls on the path is bad, make up your little mind.

• If a woman is wearing headphones, and you absolutely must approach her for some reason, do it from the front.

I thought women were all super aware and scared for their lives and shit. What are you doing blocking sound with headphones, you can't hear the scary men coming that way.

• Don’t ask us for help if your car or bike has broken down. Find someone else.

As if women can fix a broken car or bike.

• Give us a wide berth when you’re passing and share the footpath. Even better, step off to the side. You already have global domination; you can give us a bit of concrete.

Hahaha we built the footpath cupcake, and you want us to step off it for you?

• There is no reason to gesticulate towards your crotch. Don’t even scratch yourself until you’ve passed us.

If my balls itch, I am gonna scratch them, I don't care if you happen to see it.

• Don’t spit anywhere near us please.

Keep talking, I might spit right on your shoe.

That article oozes entitlement, would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

[–]_pulsar 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fucking hell, she might be the most entitled person I've ever come across.

[–]Mythandros 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see it as my duty to protect women. You are equal. Protect yourself. I am too busy making sure I don't get assaulted or killed. I couldn't care less about some random female stranger I will probably never see again.

[–]mochacola 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That article is freakin' retarded.

I'll tell you why it is men's duty to make women feel safe. Because men want their families safe, which includes women. It is simple as that.

Law enforcement task forces had been mostly men. Legislators had been mostly men. And they are all designed to protect women and children first.

These idiots just paraphrase whatever junk they were spoon fed and think they have created something of value.

[–]youwantmetoeatawhat 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don’t run directly behind us at the same pace. Either overtake or fall behind.

• When you’re overtaking us, say something like, ‘Passing on your left’. And then pass quickly.

That is just manners.

• Don’t hang around running trails or paths wearing a hoodie and doing nothing in particular.

I is called be out of breath/smoking.

• Smile and/or wave as you run past us — we like feeling like we’re part of a community. But ignoring us works fine too, if that’s your thing.

Am I being Mommed right now into saying hi?

• Don’t stop and chat. Mid-run is no place to strike up a new friendship.

Ok I will ignore you.

• Keep eye contact to a minimum. Anything longer than two seconds is creepy.

Ignoring you.

• If you see a woman who could be being harassed, stop and ask if she needs help. At worst, you’re wrong and you feel a little sheepish. At best, you could stop something terrible from happening.

Sorry, I was doing as you asked to ignore you.

• Tell us if you’ve seen something threatening ahead. Are the lights under the bridge out? We love to know stuff like that.

Was supposed to ignore you but I don't know what you find threatening.

• If a woman is wearing headphones, and you absolutely must approach her for some reason, do it from the front.

see earlier request

• Don’t ask us for help if your car or bike has broken down. Find someone else.

Sorry sometimes I forget and treat women as people with agency you know as an equal. Working on that for you.

• Give us a wide berth when you’re passing and share the footpath. Even better, step off to the side. You already have global domination; you can give us a bit of concrete.

Yes, M'lady

• There is no reason to gesticulate towards your crotch. Don’t even scratch yourself until you’ve passed us. • Don’t spit anywhere near us please.

Enjoying that Puritanism?

• If you have a female partner or friend who runs, ask her if she’d like some company.

If she wants company she will ask and vice versa.

I hate these arts so much. You don't know what I feel, and I doubt you know what real fear is. I have had been, beaten, robbed, raped, shot at, cut, set on fire, thrown from cars, drowned, and that list goes on. Still walking at night because I don't have a choice, still running on trails. Until you have people try and kill you, you don't know what fear is. You are a middle class white women in the brubs in the modern era you are the safest group in the history of histories.

But if you are this worried and just run paved paths join Curves.

Too lazy and too entitled.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a suspicion that women have some sort of instinctive conflict about men, both androphobic about dangerous men, but also a kind of fetish for big scary guys.

[–]ExpendableOne 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As a female runner, I am constantly aware of my safety when I’m out on an evening run. What is behind me? Do I hear anything strange? Why is that man running towards me? What is making those bushes rustle?

Like, do you think men don't have these same instincts? That, despite the million of years of evolution, contemporary men somehow managed to overcome their own self of survival and self-preservation? That men just run around completely oblivious to any and all dangers, waiting for them around every corner(which, statistically, are just likely to kill them, if not more so because they are men)? I think most men are aware of these noises and have the same fears but, in the end, also know that they have to be brave or they will never leave the house, never live their lives or never meet anyone.

Author Margaret Atwood said “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”

Which is an incredibly biased and misandric thing to say, and should never be quoted in any kind of positive manner. If you're just going around life afraid that men will kill you because they are men, you have a problem against the male gender. If that wasn't the case, you would feel the same way about every other woman that is larger than you and, at the very worse, you would probably idolize/idealize every man that is shorter/smaller than you(which, is literally never the case).

It's also completely delusional, if not entirely fucking wrong. Women laughing at men is a lot more common than men killing women. One is a rational fear, because it actually happens on a regular basis, the other is not because it doesn't really happen anywhere near as often as you believe it does. A man being laughed at by women is also a lot more destructive than you are trying to make it. It signifies social/romantic rejection and desolation on a level that most women will never really experience(privilege?). Most people would also probably be conscious enough to know that men have a lot more to fear from women than just that too, since women are entirely capable of slandering, attacking or even killing men with far less scrutiny and consequence. This very article is proof that men have a lot more to worry from women than being laughed at, such as being secretly branded a sexual predator or being falsely accused of being a potential rapist because you didn't acknowledge or smile at you the right way.

Every woman I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger.

Does not mean that every one of those situation actually meant their lives were in danger. Perception can be a pretty misleading thing and, if I'm going by the type of person you are, you are probably surrounding yourself with like-minded women who are also just as hateful or insecure about men as you are.

What we’re more like to encounter, though, is sexual harassment: catcalls, leering, suggestive comments and gesticulations … the list goes on.

None of these are life-threatening, nor are they even dangerous. You are projecting an aspect of danger onto male heterosexuality, because you feel comfortable demonizing men in this way. But, at the end of the day, this is delusion and it is a form of hatred.

The problem with harassment is that it isn’t just lighthearted banter — and it’s certainly not a compliment.

Says who? Clearly you are not in the right mind to interpret these things, as you have already established, and surely you can understand that these people know their intents a whole lot better than whatever it is you are interpreting from your own projections.

Why am I telling you this? Because as a man, you fall into one of two categories:

Or, You're a nice person that doesn't believe it's very nice for women to treat men this way. Or, You're a nice person who doesn't see himself as a sexual predator because you own a penis(because you aren't), and you don't see your own expressions of sexual/romantic desires as being malevolent(because they aren't).

Either way, the fact that women feel unsafe when they’re out running in public is directly attributable to men.

"Either way, the fact that white people feel unsafe when they’re out running in public is directly attributable to black people." doesn't sound very nice or healthy now, does it? In fact, why don't you go ahead and read through all your points under this context and see how you feel about it then.

If you’re one of the good guys, you probably don’t think of yourself as intimidating but your presence in certain circumstances can make a woman feel unnerved.

If you're not doing anything wrong and a woman is unnerved because of her own prejudices, she is the one in the wrong. It is not your responsibility to accommodate those women in their prejudices. You keep on being you.

Don’t run directly behind us at the same pace. Either overtake or fall behind.

What the fuck does overtaking you accomplish? If you're behind me, how the fuck would I know you're not going to hurt me someway? What? Does that sound like an irrational fear? Maybe that's because it is. If someone wanted to hurt you, do you really think being ahead or behind you makes a difference?

When you’re overtaking us, say something like, ‘Passing on your left’. And then pass quickly.

This is literally an arbitrary interaction you are imposing on men to suit your own personal delusions of how a man should behave, or that someone who is dangerous wouldn't do.

Don’t hang around running trails or paths wearing a hoodie and doing nothing in particular.

Yeah, wouldn't want to wear appropriate clothing or have something to keep warm when it's cold, because women are afraid of men in cloths!

Smile and/or wave as you run past us — we like feeling like we’re part of a community. But ignoring us works fine too, if that’s your thing.

Did you just ask me to smile, you shitlord! How about I just do whatever comes naturally to me and you try not to be a crazy.

Don’t stop and chat. Mid-run is no place to strike up a new friendship.

Says who? There is no defined place to strike conversation and meet new people. That's not how the world works. People generally go outside to do things and to interact with others. When people see opportunities for new friendships, then they just try to take whatever opportunities they can find. You are insane if you think you are entitled to people not being able to talking to you in a public place, because you are a woman.

Keep eye contact to a minimum. Anything longer than two seconds is creepy.

No, it's not. You make it creepy because you associate negative intents behind it. A guy who sees a pretty girl and looks at her for longer than two seconds isn't doing anything wrong. He is allowed to have feelings or to appreciate what he considers to be beautiful. You're being a cunt for demonizing him for it. Imagine if men did the same to women? If you see a really hot guy that you would really like to talk to, how would you feel if he called you creepy for looking at him for longer than two seconds or trying to talk to him? Imagine if that was a "white person" thinking that way about a "black person"?

If you see a woman who could be being harassed, stop and ask if she needs help. At worst, you’re wrong and you feel a little sheepish.

Is it wrong for men to think that women are capable adults, who can engage into and disengage out of any conversation they want? At worse, you would be interrupting a perfectly normal conversation, treating a man as an aggressor/threat for being a man(which is kind of a shitty thing to do) and treating a woman like a damsel in distress(oppression!)... not to mention that any kind of real assessment of this would require us to look at women, or the situation, for longer than two seconds(which contradicts a previous point) and trying to initiate contact(which also contradicts another previous point), which means that you could also be putting yourself at risk of being perceived as a threat. If something terrible was to happen, a man passing by wouldn't really have any way of knowing. If something terrible as actually in progress, then call for help and make it clear. Either way, it's not men's responsibility to play lawmaker for your personal delusions.

Tell us if you’ve seen something threatening ahead. Are the lights under the bridge out? We love to know stuff like that.

You just told me not to make conversation and, from what you've written so far, how do I know me telling you something like that won't be interpreted as a threat?

Don’t ask us for help if your car or bike has broken down. Find someone else

How the fuck do you expect men to help you under all circumstances, but can't be bothered to help men under any circumstance?

You already have global domination; you can give us a bit of concrete.

No, we don't, and, even if we did, that doesn't entitle you to act like you own the roads you walk on and to expect men to shun themselves off of those roads to suit your mood.

There is no reason to gesticulate towards your crotch. Don’t even scratch yourself until you’ve passed us. Don’t spit anywhere near us please.

Because if you spit anywhere or scratch yourself, you must clearly be a rapist.

If you have a female partner or friend who runs, ask her if she’d like some company.

Because dangerous people can never be accompanied by women, and pre-requiring female escorts/pre-approval is clearly not creepy or sexist at all.

Stop leering. commenting on our bodies. catcalling.propositioning us.groping us.flashing us.raping us.murdering us.

There is a world of difference between murder&rape, flashing&groping, catcalling&propositioning and leering&compliments, you should really learn to differentiate between these things before leaving the house. You would probably feel a lot safer and the men in your neighbourhood would probably feel a lot safer too.

An open letter to men, who can help female runners feel safe

As a female runner, I am constantly aware of my safety when I’m out on an evening run. What is behind me? Do I hear anything strange? Why is that man running towards me? What is making those bushes rustle?

Okay.

Author Margaret Atwood said, “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”

Race/Gender Flip Time?

"Blacks are afraid whites will say something racist. Whites are afraid blacks will mug and kill them."

You may think that’s hyperbole, but I promise you, it’s not. Every woman I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger.

How many were in a situation where their lives were actually in danger before? How many men were in situations that were actually dangerous? How many men did you even survey? This is 100% feelz>realz so far.

While the stories of rape and murder are the ones that gain the most media attention, we’re aware that it’s unlikely to happen to us. Unlikely, but always possible.

What we’re more like to encounter, though, is sexual harassment: catcalls, leering, suggestive comments and gesticulations … the list goes on.

What that harassment does is remind us that we are forever vulnerable. That we can never feel truly safe.

Ahh. Here's the bait and switch. Admit that actual rape and murder are very rare, but here's the real issue which is that men look at us sometimes.

A recent study conducted by Runner’s World found that a whopping 43 per cent of women sometimes experience harassment on the street when they run. That’s in contrast to the 4 per cent of men who experienced the same.

BDMR_lurker already pointed this out: most men would be unlikely to consider staring harassment when a woman does it.

Why am I telling you this? Because as a man, you fall into one of two categories:

1: You’re a genuinely nice guy who needs to be more aware of this problem

2: You’re a man who makes women feel unsafe when she’s running in public (shame on you!).

Either way, the fact that women feel unsafe when they’re out running in public is directly attributable to men.

"The fact that white people feel unsafe when they're in the inner city is directly attributable to black people."

And no, I'd say widespread fearmongering about how 90% of women are raped is a far bigger contributor to women feeling unsafe than "men."

So why are all the articles and safety tips aimed at women? Why are we gathering safety groups to run with, running with personal alarms, and cutting our runs short so we’re not out after dark?

Because YOU are the one who is fucking paranoid. As pointed out, in most developed countries, if you're not in a crappy neighborhood, the risk of being attacked is not that high. If being in a group or using a personal alarm makes you feel safer, then that's an effective solution to you feeling unsafe.

The problem is that women can’t tell the difference between those problem men and the genuinely nice guys.

Shrodinger's Rapist strikes again. "The problem is cops can't tell the difference between thugs and non-criminal black guys."

If you’re one of the good guys, you probably don’t think of yourself as intimidating but your presence in certain circumstances can make a woman feel unnerved. If you don’t believe me, ask the women you know.

The good news is you’re in a great position to help us to feel more safe when we’re out running. Here’s what you can do:

Fuck off. If my presence is unnerving you, that's your goddamn problem.

Don’t run directly behind us at the same pace. Either overtake or fall behind.

When you’re overtaking us, say something like, ‘Passing on your left’. And then pass quickly.

This is called "common courtesy."

Don’t hang around running trails or paths wearing a hoodie and doing nothing in particular.

Define "running trail." IME most of them just run through normal parks. So fuck off. I have as much of a right to use a public space as you. Are you saying I can't hang out in a damn park because of your paranoia? And stereotyping based on clothing? Really?

Smile and/or wave as you run past us — we like feeling like we’re part of a community. But ignoring us works fine too, if that’s your thing.

Don’t stop and chat. Mid-run is no place to strike up a new friendship.

Keep eye contact to a minimum. Anything longer than two seconds is creepy.

If you see a woman who could be being harassed, stop and ask if she needs help. At worst, you’re wrong and you feel a little sheepish. At best, you could stop something terrible from happening.

Tell us if you’ve seen something threatening ahead. Are the lights under the bridge out? We love to know stuff like that.

Great. As I thought, contradictory advice. Be friendly, but not too friendly, don't stop and chat but be sure to take every opportunity to be a white knight. Of course, in practice what this means is "be a mind reader," since everyone's threshold for "creepy" is different.

If a woman is wearing headphones, and you absolutely must approach her for some reason, do it from the front.

Okay, this one is also common courtesy.

Don’t ask us for help if your car or bike has broken down. Find someone else.

What? So, when men are actually in a bad situation and potentially in real danger... I guess it's men's job to help out. Fucking Christ.

Give us a wide berth when you’re passing and share the footpath. Even better, step off to the side. You already have global domination; you can give us a bit of concrete.

You're the one with the problem, you move. In fact, go fuck yourself with the "step into the gutter for your betters" bullshit.

If you have a female partner or friend who runs, ask her if she’d like some company.

Look at all this support for traditional gender roles.

Near the beginning:

Author Margaret Atwood said, “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”

Six sentences later:

While the stories of rape and murder are the ones that gain the most media attention, we’re aware that it’s unlikely to happen to us. Unlikely, but always possible.

What we’re more like to encounter, though, is sexual harassment: catcalls, leering, suggestive comments and gesticulations"

And at the end:

As for the smaller set of men, who have contributed to this feeling of being unsafe for women everywhere, I have a special set of requests for you:

Stop leering.

• Stop commenting on our bodies.

• Stop catcalling.

• Stop propositioning us.

• Stop groping us.

• Stop flashing us.

• Stop raping us.

• Stop murdering us.

Way to manipulate an argument, much? Not even starting on the the whole thing being about women "feeling" unsafe even though the fact is that men are far more likely to be attacked.

wtf I used to scared of being outside by myself(and still am at night if I'm ever in a ghetto), it's called self-defense, or even better self defense and working out an excising.

Also "it was men in 94 per cent of cases where women felt threatened" is extremely intriguing, because that would imply that 12% of women are lesbian(this kind of stuff is usually sexually-related). Correct me if my calculations are wrong, it could be 6 or 3% but I'm pretty sure it's 12.

Every woman I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger. Can you imagine that?

Every man I know has been in a situation at least once in their life when they thought their life was actually in danger.

How is that any different?

It isn't.

The only difference, is that women are self entitled to a point where they believe their own safety is more important than a man's safety.

In fact, men are far more likely to be assaulted injured, or killed in public than are women.

White women: the most entitled overall demographic of human beings on the face of the planet, but still whining as if it is otherwise.

Buy a treadmill.

God I hate women.

I didn't read the article, because I'm not interested in helping women anymore.
