Why, now I have to go through the top posts of all time.

it's glorious

Right or wrong, citizens need to start thinking of cops like bears; Be aware of your surroundings, keep an eye out for them. If you spot one, keep your distance, or better yet leave the area.

And most important of all, dont get drunk and start kicking them.....

[–]EdinMiami 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But if you feed them and give them a beverage, they tend to stay immobile for longer periods.

[–]Joncat84 35 points36 points37 points 11 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

The lady thrown to ground had hand cuffs on so couldn't protect her face. She lost teeth and got really messed up.

Can confirm. My 5 year old nephew recently decided running with his hands in his pockets is a good idea. Black eye, swollen forehead, hospital trip. Hands are important for stopping all kinds of pain.

[–]baylithe 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link

She was also drunk and kicked two other cops.

[–]benwaaaaaaaah 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can see how that was justified then.............

[–]kinmix 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I don't understand why people defend those actions. What do you think was the reason for those actions. Was he defending him self? Doesn't seem likely considering she was handcuffed and is probably half his mass. He wasn't defending anyone else nor any property. So what other justification could there be for his actions?

[–]Taco_Strong -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

He was defending himself. If he hadn't taken control of the situation she would have continued to lash out. Potentially causing someone harm.

Also, not sure if you've been kicked in the balls before(or are male for that matter), but there's a moment where you feel the need to lash out to protect yourself and ward off any more attacks to the area.

[–]bigbossman90 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How much harm can a sitting, handcuffed person cause? Seriously?

If she's still kicking or otherwise being unruly there are much better ways to make her stop.

Also, not sure if you've been kicked in the balls before(or are male for that matter), but there's a moment where you feel the need to lash out to protect yourself and ward off any more attacks to the area.

This is reaching. Even if she did hit him in the nuts he knows she really can't do anything.

[–]Taco_Strong -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That angle and even with her weight, she can break a knee backwards. Especially with the wall to push against.

[–]bigbossman90 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And if that had happened this may have been an appropriate response. But it wasn't.

[–]Taco_Strong -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're right we should wait till someone has seriously hurt and disabled us to defend ourselves. This makes perfect sense. /s

[–]DarkDubzsRev. Fred Phelps Is My Gay Father -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If someone, inebriated or not, acts violently like this in the situation, just telling them to stop isn't going to do anything, and they'll know they can keep doing it and get away with it. He just took control of the situation so she wouldn't be doing this shit again. It is unfortunate that she got her face messed up and probably lost some teeth because she got her face slammed to the ground, it seems excessive, but she got herself into it and if she just didn't kick someone in the balls, it wouldn't have had to happen. Also, the pain from getting kicked in the balls almost infuriates you for a moment and you feel like you need to grab who did it, it doesn't make it okay to do so, but it added to his response I guess.

[–]DarkDubzsRev. Fred Phelps Is My Gay Father -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mentioned that it gives you a sense of infuriarion, I said so as a note, I do not give him a pass like you say because of it. I even said it doesn't make it okay.

Getting kicked in the groin will almost certainly get contact with the testicles and it doesn't take much force at all to them for it to become very painful. If someone got hit in the groin from someone else at an angle almost right to their side, it would probably hit the thigh instead like you said. Immediately after getting hit in the testicles, you get a rush and feel in shock, you don't really feel pain for a second, then it starts to hit you after a few seconds and it starts building up. After about 10 seconds you're at full pain and then it has by then started spreading to your stomach. It's not a crippling pain where you start passing out unless you get hit significantly hard. I know all this because I used to take part in rochambeau for some reason.

I don't even know why we're nitpicking this whole thing. You have your stance on the situation, I respect it, and I have my own. Neither of us are probably going to change each other's. I wish the encounter between the officer and woman didn't happen.

[–]bigbossman90 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Isn't that what sitting her down was supposed to do? Yeah she still kicked at him, but she was no real danger.

It is unfortunate that she got her face messed up and probably lost some teeth because she got her face slammed to the ground, it seems excessive, but she got herself into it and if she just didn't kick someone in the balls, it wouldn't have had to happen.

Is this victim blaming? It sounds like victim blaming to me...

Also, the pain from getting kicked in the balls almost infuriates you for a moment and you feel like you need to grab who did it, it doesn't make it okay to do so, but it added to his response I guess.

This definitely does not make it ok. I understand police are people but they need to have a level of professionalism this guy just doesn't have.

This is as bad as the lady who was cuffed and sitting on a curb and kicked at the cop standing there and he kicked her in the head and knocked her out.

[–]DarkDubzsRev. Fred Phelps Is My Gay Father 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do think how he reacted was excessive and on the extreme side, but I'm not upset that he did what he did. Victim blaming? I think victim blaming would be something like blaming a victim of rape for not fighting back enough. If this person just sat there like normal, she wouldn't had gotten into the problem, what does she expect when she hits someone, especially an officer? Again, it was more on the excessive side on the officer's side, but if you hit someone, expect a similar response, regardless, it's that simple.

[+][deleted] -32 points-31 points-30 points 11 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't fucking matter. Oh no a 110 pound girl kicked you while you were in full gear, trained for a job where you know shit like this happens. She is a teenager, drank too much and make a mistake, she or anyone else should not have to pay with teeth and fractured bones for it. That cop should be fired and charged. Fuck cops who put their pride ahead of the duty they signed up for.

[–]CPS_RCMP25 22 points23 points24 points 11 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

"Full gear" so a shirt, vest, and cargo pants? It's not like the guy is wearing a cup. Have you ever been kicked in the nuts?

[–]dj_bpayne 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah, his mommy doesn't let him out of the basement. Besides, his trenchcoat tactically blocks both men and women from approaching his junk

[–]heathenyak 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you been hit in the fun bag wearing a cup? It is only slightly better...

[+]EdinMiami -10 points-9 points-8 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever been handcuffed and had your head bounced off the floor?

[–]DeusMexMachina 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

CSB time...15 years ago, I was watching a fight in downtown Fort Collins with about 50 other people. The cops came to disperse the crowd and end the festivities. A manly female cop singled me out and rudely told me to get out of the area. I called her a dyke, and promptly got whacked in the back of my knee with a wand, handcuffed and generally roughed up. After I was released from the drunk tank, the desk sergeant says to me "no charges tonight as long as everyone is cool, right?" Took me a second to realize he was acknowledging she was excessive, and I should acknowledge I was a dick that deserved it. Tell you what, I've never called a cop a dyke again. Maybe this girl could learn not to kick cops.

[–]EdinMiami 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Maybe, but hitting you was against the law since being an asshole isn't a crime and police are supposed to put up with people who are just being assholes. Unless you think it is ok for police to act in violation of the law?

[–]DeusMexMachina 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think if more people who are acting like assholes get treated like an asshole, people would, in general, not act like such assholes.

[–]bigbossman90 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While this is definitely true, it's not against the law to be an asshole.

[–]EdinMiami -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Or, and I'm just spit balling here, perhaps those who enforce the law actually follow the law? It's so crazy it might just work.

[–]DeusMexMachina 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, there's that, but I don't tend to follow the law as much as I do common sense.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can't speak for him, but I haven't. Mainly because I don't get so drunk and belligerent I start attacking cops.

[–]EdinMiami -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you saying since you havent, and don't expect to do it, that it is alright if unlawful punishment is handed out to others? 'Cause that would make you kind of a dick, no?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, because I don't break the law.

[–]EdinMiami -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes you do. Now you are a law breaker and a liar.

[–]dsquard 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ignore the trolls, wrong subreddit to be rational. People don't care to see the other part of this video, where she gets shoved, hard, into the chair. I fully agree with you, this cop is a coward.

[–]Tofuzion 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Assault charges don't give a flying fuck if you're 100 lbs or 500 lbs. You go at someone with intent to hurt you better be ready to take what comes back

[–]nighght 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was only natural that this sub would devolve into /r/misogyny eventually. She's a shitty brat and she should've been put in her place, but it should've been done in the courtroom. His job is to minimize bad situations and to keep the public safe. Here we see a cop with a huge ego losing his cool because a fucking drunk teenager was throwing a shit fit.

[–]DemandCommonSense 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She should have thought of that before she did what she did.

[–]fat_over_lean 38 points39 points40 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Bodycams need to happen on cops. Uncooperative arrests should be met with harsher sentences, and cooperative and respectful individuals should be treated with reduced sentences.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So which type of arrest gets the standard sentence?

[–]fat_over_lean 56 points57 points58 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

cardiac arrests

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

none, duhhhhh.

[–]d0dgerrabbit -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is no standard aside from mandatory minimums. Sentencing seems entirely arbitrary.

[–]ItsOnlyTheTruth 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Acting cooperative during an arrest should not result in a lighter sentence for the offence you are being arrested for in the first place. Resisting arrest should be, and is, an offence of its own.

[–]fat_over_lean 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ideally, yes, but the problem is lots of people figure that acting like an ass or being difficult can't hurt their punishment. They have little reason to be nice, and cops have to try extra hard to stay calm. Police officers are humans, not emotionless robots. If suddenly it becomes widely known that a good attitude during an arrest will result in a reduced sentence, I would expect everyone would benefit.

[–]bsutansalt 55 points56 points57 points 11 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

While she did kick him and was generally being unruly, the guy lost his cool and professionalism and overreacted IMO.

[–]DeusMexMachina 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

In the bright side, she'll think twice about being a cunt in the future.

[–]Dawgs000 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, she won't. She'll chalk it up as the officer abusing her (which he did), and that she is an innocent victim (she isn't).

[–]kinmix 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On the down side, it propagates the culture of antagonism between police force and general population...

[–]bsutansalt -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is true.

[–]paranoidbillionaire 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Don't bother reading the top comments above you, then. I agree with you and had to scroll for a while to find one I could feel safe responding to.

They've said she the person being detained attacked other cops beforehand and that it justifies his the cop's actions. If she the person being detained had attacked other police officers before this incident, I'd say it falls more on the officer for not appropriately detaining her them after the initial interactions.

She The person in custody lost teeth in the incident according to this video. I'd call that excessive for a woman person who was already in handcuffs.

Edited to remove gender-specific pronouns.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The fact that she is a woman does not matter a tiny bit. People should realise that you do not assault a cop no matter what.

[–]paranoidbillionaire 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm definitely not arguing with you, I agree entirely; assault on any person doing their job shouldn't be tolerated.

I'm stating that even if the person were a man in handcuffs, that level of reaction wasn't necessary.

The fact that it happened to a woman feels moot to me. You can replace every pronoun in my last comment with a male counterpart.

The fact that the officer(s) didn't take more action(s) to stop that person from further reacting in a physically aggressive nature falls on the police.

I could and probably am totally wrong, but the force seems excessive for a male or female person being detained.

[–]AwierdowithaBIGCOCK -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She was an inch away from making sure the officer never had children. Would the tackle have beem excessive then?

[–]paranoidbillionaire 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is a conversation of what-ifs.

What if the slam caused her reproductive system to be damaged to the point of never having children, as well?

There's just simply not a black and white answer to this situation.

[–]AwierdowithaBIGCOCK -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then she shouldn't have kicked him in the nads, simple as that. Black and white.

[–]Vishyvish111 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And cops should learn to respect the badge rather than blindly use force.

[–]Infinitopolis 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep, handle your business from jail like everyone else. As long as cops are the main way of shutting people up you'll never succeed by attacking them.

[–]LeapYearFriend 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Emphasis on "feel safe responding to"

The nature of this subreddit is a little shady at best.

[–]per54 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think so? Would your stance change had the suspect been a male?

[–]bsutansalt 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Would your stance change had the suspect been a male?

No. A natural punch in the head is what I imagine would have happened, like what should have happened here.

[–]duhastbutthurt -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Please elaborate on what a "natural bunch in the head" is. Perhaps this is just a typo, but i'm hopeful it's an opportunity for me to learn a cool new phrase all the kids are using.

[–]bsutansalt 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"bunch" was simply a typo of punch. I grew up with a sister and roughhousing with cousins and my first reaction to getting kicked like that is to come out swinging, not body slam someone face first.

[–]420quickscoper -5 points-4 points-3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fuck that. This bitch had it coming. I don't give a good Goddamn whether he roughed her up, maybe she'll think twice next time about being an arrogant, asswipe to the authorities.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She'll be thinking much more slowly after this, thats for sure.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bullshit.

You assault anyone with a kick to the groin area and you're gonna have a bad time.

[–]AwierdowithaBIGCOCK -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can you blame the guy though, idk about you but getting kicked in the bads not only hurts me but makes me angry.

[–]cjet427 68 points69 points70 points 11 years ago (71 children) | Copy Link

Usually I'd say it was disproportionate force, but kicking a cop in the nuts is moronic, and deserving of a slam.

[–]Ojisan1 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I'm conflicted between my dislike for police brutality versus denying that pussypass.

But, since I am certain that if a guy kicked a cop in the nuts while handcuffed, he would know to expect some rough treatment, and apparently she didn't, then I'm gonna go with this is a good pussypass denial.

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points34 points 11 years ago (57 children) | Copy Link

Or he could've just charged her for assault of an officer? Yknow like a cop should, instead of going full John Cena on that bitch.

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points45 points 11 years ago (54 children) | Copy Link

Oh yeah, just let her sit there as he calmly waits till she's done assaulting him. Yeah

[+]JimmyTheBones -34 points-33 points-32 points 11 years ago* (38 children) | Copy Link

So you're telling me that's the only way to stop a handcuffed and seated woman from assaulting you?

It's obviously disproportionate force. Just because you're a police officer doesn't mean you can retaliate in anyway you like to the tiniest assault. He could have restrained her easily with a single hand on her shoulder then let her take the further charges with evidence from the CCTV in the station. In what world could you possibly think this is justified!?

Edit: I'm guessing from the downvotes to a rational argument people here just hate women.

[–]swim34 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

How could a single hand on her shoulder restrain her from kicking him? Plus she could change tactics to biting/thrashing about/generally being disruptive, and she would be encouraged to do so if she realized the police officer was just going to sit there and peacefully take it

[–]XisanXbeforeitsakiss -5 points-4 points-3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

youre right. best shoot her instead, fear for life etc.

[+]JimmyTheBones -12 points-11 points-10 points 11 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Take one step around the side of her and lean on her shoulder. She can't kick you, she can't stand up. If she escalates, you escalate . As it stood she took one kick then froze for a second, she wasn't continuing her assault. The officer just lost his patience.

[–]swim34 14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

She bites you

Edit: according to the news story posted below she attacked other police officers before this and was resistant the whole time. I have a feeling this was the last straw

[–]rico_of_borg 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well i'm glad the other officers did this as well. oh wait...

[–]TheKyFireman 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know what she won't be doing again? LOL

[+]JimmyTheBones -18 points-17 points-16 points 11 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Oh come on, you're telling me you couldn't move your hand if someone tries to bite you? You have a hand free anyway, could easily hold her head. Regardless of what happened previously it's for the justice system to provide punishment, not a jumped up police officer who has no self control.

[–]swim34 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Police get bit by people who are restrained and desperate for some way to lash out. This response was correct based on her continual attack of the officers and refusal to settle down

[+]JimmyTheBones -18 points-17 points-16 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I couldn't disagree with you more.

[+]Palin_Sees_Russia -15 points-14 points-13 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you can't restrain a fucking woman without hurting them, you shouldn't be a police officer. It's not his job to retaliate.

[–]Cali_Val 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I was with you till this part. If she was resistant the whole time, assaulting and aggravating, then the police didn't do wrong by slamming her ass into control.

Don't worry, this was posted in /r/rage and /r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut and the outrage was universal. Turns out she barely brushed the cop's pants and ended up with facial fractures and missing teeth. Cops said in their report that she was assaulting them, or some bullshit. To say it was disproportionate is beyond an understatement.

If a guy kicks me in the balls as I'm a cop, I have to do something to prevent further harm. Mace or a taser will work, but so will physical force.Same with girls.

[+]JimmyTheBones -8 points-7 points-6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Physical force? Yes. I would argue that a single hand on her shoulder, maybe two at a push, would be sufficient physical force in this situation.

The physical force used here I would say would be justified if the person was unrestrained and posed a threat to the officer. This woman poses no threat to the officer, he just lost his temper.

[+]NoDiggityNoDoubt -8 points-7 points-6 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Or, you know, cuff their ankles also, then they're just sitting there. This slam was a little excessive for anyone, and was clearly because the cop got pissed off and had to "show her who's boss."

[–]Stevenson_The_Last5 points 11 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

You can still easily swing both legs if they're cuffed together. Plus having to cuff her legs could easily result in a kick to the head judging by her attitude with the first kick.

[–]NoDiggityNoDoubt 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That's all okay, because the charges will just keep piling up. The cop acting like an appropriate authority figure will go a long way in the jury trial against this moron, and will offer absolutely zero chance of any lawsuits against the cop or the police department.

Oh, it would also help boost the image of police, since it seems anymore, they all act like thugs out to prove themselves to be stronger than the people they're arresting.

[–]swim34 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I don't think you know how police work. They are not trained or have any obligation to sit there and peacefully take a physical beating. Yeah she can try a lawsuit but he had the appropriate response, restrain the assaulter in the quickest and most efficient way possible. They're not trying to prove they're stronger by being "thugs", a lot of them put themselves in dangerous situations all the time and they're trained not to take people's shit for a reason

[–]NoDiggityNoDoubt -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I know exactly how police work; my family has several generations of police officers.

You are assuming what I said was an generalization of all police, which any intelligent person wouldn't do simply to try to make their own point.

Unnecessary force. If you can't detain someone in handcuffs without breaking their face then you need training.

When did society decide it was OK for police to have temper tantrums? If you can't control your ego when someone assaults you then you absolutely should not be a cop.

[+]meatboitantan -15 points-14 points-13 points 11 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Especially this person. Seriously this guy is like 100 pounds heavier than her, if he can't step around her and hold her shoulders down and avoid that, he's the pussy who got the pass this time.

Doesn't matter what gender she is, if she's restrained and seated and he feels as a stronger individual to pull her up and them body slam her, he doesn't know self control, and therefore, doesn't know how to do his job.

To be fair he did push her into the chair quite forcefully to begin with which provoked her retaliation. This was far more aggressive than I thought it was going to be.

[–]MR_POTATO_IN_MY_ANUS 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

which provoked her retaliation

Or ya know, it started with her arrest back at her apartment as her boyfriend was being picked up for a warrant. Of all the possible brutality cases out here, championing a drunk, belligerent asshole, (who was currently under arrest for obstruction and striking an officer) she had a whole lot of karma coming her way. Hell no she shouldn't have been slammed into the ground. She could have avoided the entire situation by NOT being an asshole. Cause and effect.

Here's an easy tip kids. When being detained, questioned, or even outright harassed by police... don't be a fucking asshole. There is absolutely no winning in that situation. If you bite, slap, kick, spit on, hit, or go out of your way to piss off a cop, expect a bad day.

Same should be said in society. If you go out looking for trouble, more times than not, you're going to find it.

[–]swim34 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to the video posted above she was uncooperative and hit other cops as well. The forceful pushing into the chair was probably not unprovoked

[–]PlayFair 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I disagree. You almost never have the right to assault a police officer. Looks like she's in custody, and to kick him in the groin is a blatant attack. Could be questionable if she didn't kick him, but after that, she's subject to the full force of being restrained.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That wasn't restraining. That was anger and payback

[–]PlayFair 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever been kicked in the balls? Its debilitating. Use of force seems appropriate here.

[–]pheechad 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I completely agree. I feel like a lot of people on this sub have some sort of hatred or general non-compassion towards women. I'm all for women not being granted a 'pussy pass' in the sense that I believe everyone should be treated equally. From the observable facts: he instigated the situation. He pushed her aggressively down and into that chair and for that received a little kick to the balls. This 18 year old woman was being bullied by a person twice the size of her while handcuffed behind her back. If someone pushes you aggressively you have every right to retaliate. He hit her back hard across the chest then body slammed her face first into the ground smashing her two front teeth. In what fucking world is that justifiable. It makes me sick. It's laughable that the above comment was down-voted out of visibility. That cop should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Period.

[–]Workchoices 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

a little kick to the balls.

Woman detected. Theres no such thing as a little kick to the balls.

Seriously though if you dont want to be slammed by a cop dont be a slimy criminal fuck, dont get arrested, don't be uncooperative and dont assault an officer.

[–]pheechad -4 points-3 points-2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Incorrect. I'm a 6ft 3" 240lb man. I've been kicked in the balls before and never felt it necessary to smash a little woman face first in to the ground. Yeah it hurts and makes you feel nauseous but you can get over by being the bigger (metaphorical) person. They actions of the cop were that of an extremely violent person who has a trigger response. If you punch me does that give me the right to beat your face to a bloody pulp, knock out your teeth, break your jaw? Imagine if that was your sister or mother or friend? You're saying that limitless violence is the answer to minimal violence. The punishment here did not fit the crime. Police are trusted to act appropriately. I can only imagine how he'd react if he were in actual danger.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm kind of confused, I do think this was a little excessive, but you said if someone pushes you it's okay for you to retaliate, but not if you get kicked in the balls?

[+]pheechad -7 points-6 points-5 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

It was massively and unforgivably excessive. I believe in fair retaliation. He pushed her aggressively in a bullying manner. He was using force and intimidation. He got a kick in the balls in retaliation. At this point I think things were even. Karmically neutral or whatever way you want to look at it. Her kick was retaliation for his actions. He started a new 'game' of injury. Let me say it like this: it's the equivalent of the woman shooting him with a pellet gun for his initial attack and then him shooting back with real bullets.

[–]IamAOurangOutang 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Retaliating against police is how you end up dead, if you want to risk your life because of a push, go ahead.

[–]pheechad -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

That's just a passive acceptance that it's okay for cops to get out of control and act in a criminal manner causing grievous bodily harm because they're... cops. The point is that he abused his power as a police officer and abused the fact that he is physically much larger. Being a cop is not an excuse to act like an aggressive animal.

[–]IamAOurangOutang 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

But you just said it was okay for her to act as an aggressive animal.

[–]pheechad -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

When did I say that it was okay for her to act as an aggressive animal?

[–]IamAOurangOutang 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He got a kick in the balls in retaliation. At this point I think things were even.

In your earlier comment.

[–]pheechad -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I mentioned fair retaliation earlier. He instigated the events that unfolded. She retaliated (not like an aggressive animal). He then hit her across the chest, then picked her up and smashed her face against the ground. That is not fair retaliation. He completely overreacted, it's as simple as that. It was needless violence against someone that was in an extremely compromised position. I'm pretty sure any judge would rule in her favour given the evidence that we have here. I think people often dissociate from events like these based on their prejudice. Man, I'm with ya, sometimes girls get away with shit that they just shouldn't but in this case (from what we can observe) that cop brutalized that girl. Imagine if that was someone you loved being treated like that.

[–]octacok -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

agreed, he could ahve just charged her for assault as well. It was a weakass kick and posed no real threat to him. No need to potentially seriously injure her for his own pride.

[–]iplanckperiodically -4 points-3 points-2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What? She assaulted the cop in the first place. Police should get the same rights civilians get, not more, and not less. He didn't permanently injure her, so I disagree with it being excessive force. If you're trying to say the kick wasn't hard enough to warrant that, you may have a point, but since none of us was there it's impossible to know.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Police have more responsibility to respond in a professional manner. It is their job after all. Why do you think permanent injury matters and how did you determine slamming someone face down on the concrete didn't cause any?

[–]kinmix -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He didn't permanently injure her

How do you know that? For all we know she could have left half of her teeth on that floor. Police officers do have same right (and more) civilians get. Dishing out punishments is not one of those. Defending him self is, defending your self from a handcuffed teenager half your mass does not require that amount of force.

[–]iplanckperiodically 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All right, fair enough, I suppose I have no idea wether or not she was hurt. Either way, I guess he could've been a lot more graceful with the takedown.
