Seriously. Some people just aren't enthusiastic. Some women don't want to be enthusiastic during sex because they're afraid you'll think they're a slut. Women aren't children and we need to stop treating them so. They should say "yes" when they want sex and "no" when they don't--men can't hear what women don't say. Don't give consent and then call it rape because of a lack of "enthusiasm."

Even if a woman consents to have sex with another adult, according to Guardian author Gaby Hinsliff, it’s still likely rape.

In an article titled “Consent is not enough: if you want a sexual partner, look for enthusiasm,” Ms. Hinsliff argues that, even if a woman says she would like to have sex with you, if she does not do it enthusiastically, you are a rapist.

Hinsliff’s subtitle reads, “The furore over rape prosecution guidance from the CPS shows we need a new understanding of sexual relationships.”

The article goes on to argue that men are still rapists even if their sexual partner explicitly consented to sex with them. Ms. Hinsliff argues that if the woman agreed to sex, but did not do so “enthusiastically,” her sexual partner raped them.

In other words, even if a woman specifically says that she wants to have sex with you, it is still rape if she did not do it “enthusiastically.” This includes women who change their mind before, but also women who actually want to have sex with you, and not only don’t say “no,” but actually tell you in no uncertain terms that they consent.

“Don’t look for consent in a sexual partner,” Ms. Hinsliff explains, “because that’s too low a bar. Look for enthusiasm.”

“What women find hard to understand about the sort of rapists who claim they’re not rapists really,” she continues, “just normal men who misjudged things in the heat of the moment, is precisely this glaring indifference to enthusiasm: what kind of normal man wants to have sex with someone who doesn’t want to have it with them?”

She then writes specifically to men: “If you genuinely can’t tell whether they are interested or not,” even if the woman specifically told you she wants to have sex with you, “well, maybe they’re not nearly interested enough to take the risk.”

This is utterly ridiculous.

The Pundit Press headline "The Guardian: If a Woman Consents to Sex with a Man, It’s Likely Still Rape" is basically fabricated from no where and is completely unsupported by the referenced article.

They were in such a rush to publish a sensational, and false, headline that they didn't even bother to address the stuff she ACTUALLY wrote that was outrageous.

Some will say, of course, that women just don’t understand men’s fear of being falsely accused – vanishingly rare as those cases are – or of what seemed to be an ordinary, if drunken, hookup coming back to haunt them

She casually states that false accusations are "vanishingly rare" as if we're not supposed to have any recollection of all the actual false accusations that have been widely publicized, and she's the one calling drunken hookups rape, but only men are to blame, so yeah. that's an issue.

Thankfully all this is many years away yet for mine; but watching friends with teenage sons worry over what to say about girls – how to counter the warped ideas about female sexuality conveyed by porn as well as the age-old playground myths

How about we try to counter HER warped ideas about male sexuality that she's apparently learned from porn. Most of the rest of us understand the difference between movies and real life, she apparently does not.

Why wouldn't you link the actual Guardian article, instead of linking an article that exaggerates the Guardian article? Linking the original article would allow people to make up there own minds rather than eventually getting to the article with a huge bias in their mind due to how its been framed.

I think the author of the original guardian article is trying to say.. Listen lads.. If you don't want any confusion of sexual consent.. Then make sure your partner is enthusiastic rather than semi conscious, frozen, drunk, dry, inactive, half asleep<< these aren't her words. Check her article for yourself.. There's link to it in the above article..

Apply this to any other contract a woman might sign during the course of her life. This is the only activity where we seem to have a higher standard of consent that seems to need visible signs of motive instead of just a signature on a dotted line. You don't need to be enthusiastic to get legally married, but you need to be enthusiastic to get laid.

Yes? Is there anything wrong with this article. I think it was very spot on. Most women don't want submissive sex with men. Women being tops and dominating men is the only (mostly) safe sex possible.

Of course, even when the woman is being dominant, rape is still possible. I work as a dominatrix in Chicago and I was raped one time by a client, even while he was restrained! Luckily, I booted him out and reported him to the police. He won't be coming around my dungeon anymore.

But I digress. It is very possible for women to be raped by men even when women are the dominant ones, and especially when they aren't.
