Men's Conference is under attack with threats of violence. AVFM is asking for donations to meet the rising cost to deal with these threats.

A reminder that feminist care ethics states that "rules, rights, universality, and impartiality" are MALE ways of thinking that oppress women.

Video streaming is live:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt1BcPHgf2Q

the audio is glitchy in a few places, but bear with it.

[–]deeptimeswimmer 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah theres a wierd pre-echo that makes the speaker sound like he's suffering from a time-travel paradox..... :)

[–]Methodius_ 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. I'd love to watch this, but the audio problem is making it just awful.

[–]giegerwasright 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't listen to this. Fix your audio feed. Chances are you've got a line from the room and a line from the guys mic going into whatever is sending. Fix it. It isn't an echo. It's multiple inputs with different timing.

[–]DarkCircle 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow can you see all the glorious misogyny and woman hatred? Did anyone else enjoy the pro-rape talk? I enjoyed "How to beat your wife" and "Get back into the kitchen".

Oh what? That didn't happen? It was just men talking about their issues and how both genders do better if both are treated fairly. That's Crazy.

[–]theoysterismyworld 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Robert Franklin Esq. was amazing. Wish there was a separate video for it that I could share more easily.

[–]XorFish 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Guess we just have to wait some days for that

[–]tallwheel 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Once the live stream is over, I don't think AVfM will mind too much if you download the whole thing, cut out just Franklin's portion, and mirror it on your own channel. You might want to ask their permission if you're worried.

[–]tallwheel 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Actually, why don't you just timestamp it. That's much easier than my previous suggestion.

[–]theoysterismyworld 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hmm. Was afraid that wouldn't work as I've tried bookmarking links of videos at certain times before, but the really long links wouldn't work after some time. No idea why.

[–]tallwheel 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've seen forums that don't let you embed with a timestamp. Other than that, no idea.

For those using Linux; The PepperFlash plugin used in Chrome/Chromium has issues with the live365 media player. I had better luck using Firefox with the last released official Flash plugin.

I can't wait for a full video of the first day to come out. I listened to the audio of the morning portion, but ended up falling asleep during the lunch break since it was the middle of the night here. The youtube stream on the 2nd day was awesome, and totally worth staying up all night to watch and witness history being made. Having video rather than just audio improves the experience a lot for me.

Great talks! Just heard Mike Buchanan. I hope us North Americans will be able to follow in his footsteps in the near future.

[–]sillymod[S] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Need something other than a 2 party state to be as effective.

[–]iethatis 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

That's not what he said. Get a men's party to siphon off votes from other parties on the same political spectrum (right or left), which will have the effect of changing the whole climate, by making it politically expensive to hurt men.

[–]sillymod[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

In a 2 party system, like in the US, you will never siphon off enough votes to make any difference. Notice I said "as effective".

[–]iethatis 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In Canada it would be.

Also look how the tea partiers, and the green party in the us have had influence on the climate.

[–]hereisyourpaper 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

In a 2 party system, like in the US, you will never siphon off enough votes to make any difference.

That's just not true, you can still be very effective as a third party. The Green Party (with Ralph Nader) did quite well, but eventually got absorbed into the Democratic party.

Ross Perot also had quite a bit of success as a third party candidate.

The Tea Party is also being quite successful in siphoning enough votes away from Republicans (typically moderate ones) that they are able to dictate a few policy points of the entire party.

So, even under a 2 party state, it is still possible to be effective, even if it may not be "as effective."

[–]sillymod[S] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So my statement stands.

[–]Dasque 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you define "effective" as "winning no seats in congress", sure.

[–]hereisyourpaper -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why does effective require getting a seat in congress? Why does it matter who accomplishes something, as long as good has been accomplished?

[–]iethatis 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Barbara Kay: Don't forget to write to the editor when you encounter misandry in the media, it has an impact, and in contrast to women, most men just endure prejudice silently.

Thanks. I just heard Anne Cools talk - wonderful!

This is supposedly the video stream, but it's not working (yet). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzim6hQUoC8

[–]BlueDoorFour 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Any protesters?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not that I've seen. I saw a couple people who obviously aren't "into" the speakers but i think they're reporters rather than protesters.

[–]SirSkeptic 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gargggg! It's almost 2 in the morning! I've got to get up early.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Much appreciated.

[–]Lurker_IV 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Its not working for me.

[–]sillymod[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Click the play button in the centre, then turn up your volume.

Look on the left, there will be some bars that move up and down (they are subtle and hard to see) if it is working.

[–]Lurker_IV -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

yes and not working.

Is there a stream link I can open in VLC maybe?

[–]J_r_s 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I noticed a 30 second delay between pressing play and the audio starting maybe that's happening in your case as well.

[–]Lurker_IV -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It must be some of my ad blockers and tracker blockers. I opened it in another browser and its working now. Damned blockers ruining the fun stuff!

[–]sillymod[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No idea. I am just passing the info on.

[–]DesignRed 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Awesome speakers so far! I know what I am doing for the rest of the day at work =D

[–]Karma9999 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Carnell Smith was an excellent speaker. Can we adopt the name of cupcake for anyone trying to falsify parenthood?

[–]tallwheel 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haha. I've heard a lot of MGTOW using that word to refer to their ex wives on forums.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

So, how should we respond to this Metro Times feminist's accusation of being "molested" at the conference?

[–]tallwheel 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, Paul admitted to the existence of such a man when he spoke at the end of the 1st day of the conference, and stated that he had to ask him to leave. So, I would say it is probably true, but blown out of proportion by the feminist blogger above by calling it "molestation".

Paul said the dude was probably socially awkward and needed help, and he got pretty choked up when he said he hoped that someday they could have a conference where they could give such a man help rather than having to turn him away.

[–]J_r_s -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for the insight tallwheel.

[–]J_r_s 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It was at this point that I got molested at the Men’s Rights conference.

An older man came up to me and immediately complimented my hairy arms (a first). He then started telling me all this crazy shit about how he was from California and he makes movies and he wants to take me to Malibu. Regardless of sexual orientation, it was pretty weird. People started filling up the seats around us and I didn’t want to make a scene, so I just politely accepted the compliment and tried to deflect. The dude kept petting my arms.

No idea, seems too good to have actually happened unless it was caught on tape.

[permanently deleted]

[–]J_r_s 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah but not sure what that has to do with anything, could you explain? Men and women can both be molested, it's not a gendered problem.

[–]tallwheel -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It has to do with something, because he identifies as a feminist, and feminists have continually claimed that it is a gendered problem in that the numbers of male victims is miniscule compared to female according to them.

[–]richardnorth -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Just so we're all on the same page - it's likely that false accusations of assault, rape, sexism, racism, homophobia, pedophilia, bigotry and misogyny could be made against attendees in order to discredit the conference.

I'm not saying this particular accusation is de facto false, I'm saying that we need to remain vigilant against such tactics.

[–]dolandoes 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just laugh at it, or push to have the police investigate the accusation and point to examples of feminists being caught red handed making false accusations.
