As many have read recently with the divorce of footballer Hakimi, his assets seem to be with his mother and will not be lost in his divorce.
Im not familiar with this case enough to know if this is all true and if it will work for him, but I was reminded of something that happened to me.
I grew up in an agriculture background, and was a single child. My ex spouse knew that I was to inherit everything from this business including the land. $$$$.
I always told her all this land is mine everytime we drove past it.
When it came to divorce and declaring all of our assets I was open and honest. But it looked pretty bare on my side. My ex went as far as to have her lawyer bring it up and say "there is farmland involved". They were looking for something that didn't exist. They were perplexed.
I was smart enough to have all land titles under my parents and my grandmother. They own it. My name never touched anything.
The lawyers still threatened me. I said look at the land title registry dummy. Nothing in my name.
The land is now worth $2,560,000.
She got squat.
But a note to my future self.... be prepared with what I give to my child to protect it also. There is always a way around money grabbers. My parents were smart enough to protect me I will do the same. I suggest you look into what goes to your children too.
