With time it becomes okay to look at old photos. When you can be thankful for the experiences life gave you without all the nostalgia or wistfulness. Just simply thankful. It just takes time .

Oh man I remember having to do this. On an iPhone there’s a widget called memories and it would show a pic of us on vacation, family gatherings, dates, or even just random candids. It was painful seeing us and feeling like they were strangers or even envious of them.

I took an evening to myself and went through all the photos one by one transferring them to a usb as a final trip down memory lane. Went through all the emotions doing it.

Agree with others. Deleted all the photos and it felt so good. I kept ones with kids in them for the kids, or if there were any really unflattering candid photos. Those of us who have done the purge know how good it is for healing in the next phase. It’s a Pandora’s Box situation but everyone I’ve talked to who has done this said it was the correct move.

I had to just start an entirely new Apple ID.

The old one exists, the photos, the contacts, etc…and I still pay monthly for the iCloud storage, but one day I’ll be ready to let them go.

This felt a bit better than deleting everything immediately - but DAMN, was it hard…Setting up an entirely new iCloud account without a backup is a massive PITA (but worth it!)

It’s far too much work to go back and delete it. I just move them into a hidden folder when they come up

My opinion is this person took so much and caused such strife I’m not going to let her retroactively take the good memories as well.

This good memories are mine. And I shall not let anything she does also steal THOSE from me.

Deleting them is forever. I could never do it.

I did all that the day the divorce was filed. Got rid of every memory of her overnight. It was cathartic.

What did yall do about the cloud storage of photos? I had them on my Amazon cloud storage and we both used it as a repository for phone dumps. It had all sorts of nudes and flirty pics too. She wants access and I won't give it to her since it's tied to Amazon purchases and a host of other things. It's not easy to download them all to a flash drive, but I did. I'm worried she'll use it against me in court if I hand over a thumb drive with nudes. So I haven't handed it over yet. We're still in the divorce proceedings and she's particularly cunty. I'm overly cautious, anyone come up against that?

I did the same. Any picture of her even with the kids was deleted. Blocked her on all social media and painstakingly went through Facebook and deleted any photo or memory of her. Removed myself from any album.

I have all the pictures I need of the kids.

Hugh photography person here. I probably had 30-40k photos from our time dating through the kids. I untagged my ex. For the sake of the kids I won't delete anything but I cannot bring myself to look at anything before they left because I get upset.

I have most backed up on storage but going though the google photos and deleting would take forever and just wreck me... so I dont look. Maybe some day I will.

But NOT looking is for the best.

Did exactly the same. Deleted everyone digital photo of us; pre-marriage, wedding photos, and photos taken up until the day I found out she ran back to a previous affair partner during a rough patch (I filed the next day). I kept all photos of her with the kids and will one day make these available to them, but otherwise, everything is forever gone. I found the exercise a little therapeutic.

I also deleted all photos! But only on current used devices. Somewhere there is a backup

Instead of deleting, you can put them in a hidden folder too. It feels nice having them out of your main camera roll.
