This is probably not what you're expecting. But last night, I was listening to Train Song by Tom Waits. The lyrics resonated with me: "I've come ten thousand miles, and not one thing to show. A train took me away from here. But a train can't bring me home."

To me, the train is a metaphor. You can't ever go back to your innocence after some traumatic life experience.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lust For Life by Iggy Pop. I crank it all the time. ("No more beating my brains with the liquor and drugs..."). I even found some live version he did on BBC years ago.
