I am in the process of divorcing my wife. I was divorcing her because I found out she was having affairs. However, I've come to realize she was very abusive towards me (emotional, sexual, financial).

I make a lot more money than she does, so I'd have to pay her spousal support for 8-10 years.

Is there some way I can use the fact she was abusive to avoid paying spousal support? Or lower the amounts and/or length of support?

Has anyone else had this experience?

Unfortunately, I don't know if I have any hard evidence of her abuse. Maybe I could prove the financial abuse with bank and credit card statements.

Other ideas on how to proceed?

(I have an attorney... He's just busy ATM)
