This is just a rant.. I've been in a very lucrative field of IT for 20 years.

Needless to say, when my ex was awarded 40% of my net income my surplus cash is nearly non-existent.

I'm so burnt out on IT work I had been dreaming for years of saving enough, not to retire, but to get a more hands on blue collar job. Maybe machinist, rigger, I've even considered becoming a helicopter pilot... Anything but staring at this screen all day.

It's occurred to me that's never going to happen as I could never meet my financial obligations starting at the bottom at a new job. Hell, I couldn't pay the bills if I were the highest paid person at any of the jobs I'd like to pursue.

I guess I'm just stuck in this career for the next 10 years. Divorce is really the gift that keeps on giving.
