Throwaway account. Using it for all of my divorce needs as a father about to go through the process.
I had a question, and I hope this is the proper place to do it.
Scenario:
6 Year marriage, 1 child, and used to be happy together. We both had our faults, and we are primarily terrible communicators between each other.
The last year was spent working on a new job opportunity, trying to obtain the proper credentials. She was left ignored, since I also wrangled the kid all week, and nights were my only free time to study.
She quiet quit the marriage, and by this year, had one foot out the door. Our attitudes toward one another changed, and we both were at each other's throats about anything.
She was swept up by another man at her job, and denied it when we spoke for the final time. She aired out her grievances and placed the blame solely on me for ruining the relationship. She's very much dating this other man. She tried to play nice around the house, since we are too financially unstable to make big moves. We can't live separately yet, and she has had a year to prepare while I am just now starting to save.
The question:
Knowing that she has stepped out of the relationship without outright saying she wants to divorce or that she wants to be separated, we are clearly living separated but under the same roof.
We still have to sit down to discuss divorce and go through those motions. However, I do believe it is inevitable. However, there is a part of me that hopes we can still recover from this.
Has anyone ever been in a similar situation where the leaving spouse is now dating, not exclusively, but still pretty new to the new relationship. And has anyone ever been able to make the necessary changes or had hard conversations to bring them back from running astray? Is it possible or is this impossible? In this scenario, the other spouse is just catching up on what is actually happening, and is very much still in love with their spouse. Not sure if it's cheating, but it sure feels that way, although it might not be on their end since they feel they've communicated that they're done.
Sorry if that was a little confusing. I'm just trying to paint the scenario and ask if it is worth saving, if it can be saved, or anyone has succeeded in actually saving their marriage after something like this has happened? Please be kind, thank you!
