No, not for me at least. The only end(s) all for me is mainly bigotry. So transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, racism, sexism, and being against a woman’s right to choose. Also I don’t date mean guys. I do have preferences I lean towards, I like short thick dudes with a bit of muscle, so it’s unlikely I’ll be into a tall skinny guy but it’s possible as I like a large variety of guys. Hight is not something I think about at all, but my cut off point is probably 5’2” and max for me would probably be like 6’0” because interaction gets awkward at certain hights. Im 5’7” for reference.

No, most women prefer a man taller than they are (I think and even then a lot aren't fussed) but the whole only 6ft men get dates/laid is clearly nonsense

A good way to debunk this is to look at celebrities.

What height are most men in Holywood? What height are their wives?

It's not a gendered thing really, short woman dislike their height commonly. It is a trend atm on dating apps to specify a tall height from woman tbf, It's a real thing. But people on benefits with 6 kids also specify they want someone with no kids who owns a house. Dating apps and social media are just bs most the time. They don't reflect someone's true dating standards in the slightest.

Some women will filter by height. Let them. That's their issue. If a woman is so determined to only date women of a specific height then she can live with the consequences of being so picky. Some men will only swipe right on women with big boobs and a tiny waist. Again; their problem.

In reality, the point of this is to keep people on the app. I bet the men who are under the height the woman selected will still see those women, but the women will never see those men. That way the women see more men who fit their criteria, and the men see more women who they can't have, but it keeps giving them hope.

That's pretty much how dating apps work.

I'm a 5'7" guy, and my height has never affected my ability to get a relationship. But I'm also an extreme extrovert with a passion for that PG-Disney romance. So I've always had a lot of success with romance in person.

I do think the dating scene has changed a lot over the last 10-15 years though. It's not just a height thing. It's also not just a dating app thing.

What's really changed the dating market is the introduction of publicly acceptable hook-up culture. Modern society has normalized dating for sex and nothing more.

I can't tell you how many times I see a conversation about dating, and start talking about long-term advice only for everyone to jump on me and say "hey, that doesn't apply here, we're just talking hook-ups!"

So when you talk about "dating" you have to keep in mind that there's two distinct types of dating. Hook-up culture, and long-term. And then also the chaos of people who just don't know what they want.

When it comes to hook-up culture, all that matters is how a person looks, so I can see why women would value height. Hooking up is a very physical and looks-based activity, so it is what it is.

It feels like a lot of the apps are tuned towards hook-up culture, and not long-term. So that's what people are treating it as.

Still, I'm 5'7", and I've only ever dated to marry, and when it comes to relationships, I've never had an issue with my height. But I'd also argue that the kind of women who are "that shallow" aren't my type anyways.

It's a lot easy for me to have my own standards, because again, as an extreme extrovert, I get a lot more opportunity. The more opportunity someone has, the picker than can be.

I've always felt that the real handicap men (and women) can have is by not seizing opportunity. All those anti-social people not learning romance or relationship skills are always going to have a far worse time finding a partner than people with those skills.

Women say that. But realistically if a guy met the basics like being a genuinely good person, kind, loving, etc, they will look past that. Sure it’s an actual obstacle when they’re firm on it. But I personally know way more women with shorter men. I myself am 5’9” and the last three women I dated were 6’0”, 6’2”, and 6’9”

For me, NO! Two of the men that I was completely obsessed with was about 5'6 and the other was about 5'7. Omg I found them sexy, smart and I wanted to be with them forever. The problem I find with some short men is they don't have confidence and the look for validation which is not sexy. The first two men were ambitious, had opinions of their own and confident as far as I could tell. They weren't perfect, but they were sexy. I'm dating a short guy right now and he is painfully unconfident. He doesn't have anything to talk about and is always trying to find a way to pander to me. Its a complete turn off. I'm not saying he has to be combative, but just have a brain.

Lots of women filter by height. They will claim they will date shorter (but only if they are richer or better looking). I’m 5’10”, and I experimented with putting my height as 6’ to see what would happen. I literally got double the matches that I did before.

So that means the vast majority of women wanted to filter out short guys..

I believe physical attractiveness plays an important role in dating. Your height and face are both factors that most women subconsciously consider when they see you to determine whether you are attractive or not.

With that being said, it is not the "be-all and end all" for dating. I believe that self-care (skincare, proper hairstyle, etc), lean and good physique through exercise, and actually being a nice person can raise a lot of men's level of attractiveness.

As for your question, an average looking man with an average height (depends on the country) is not simply "doomed" in the dating market, well, not the online one at least.
