A guy I met online wants to have me fly to see him. He was supposed to attend his sister's graduation which got cancelled so he has a voucher for that and he said he would use it. After I agreed to visit him, he said something about how we should discuss airfare. I'm concerned he will ask me to pay or cover the difference after the voucher is applied. (I DO NOT have an issue with paying for my own expenses). I just really need to see a real investment at the beginning. I don't know how to react if he asks me to pay. (I will pay for my hotel room). Not sure about food.

I'm beginning to see so much wisdom in traditional cultural practices I.e. Men having to buy women an expensive ring. Or in Islam, men have to pay an agreed upon sum of money or land to the bride. It's not that I want or need those things from someone. But I see their value in allowing women to secure a man who is invested.
