Based on her story, they were somewhere more private and making out on the first date. I don’t know. I hate that we have to be so puritanical about it, but here’s a great reason why you stay fully public and avoid escalating physical stuff with a guy for a few dates.

A few weeks ago, I went on a date with a new guy. It was ok, I was on the fence about seeing him again until the end of the night when my mind was made up. He asked for a good night kiss. I obliged, and then he tried to kiss me again several more times, clearly trying to turn it into a make out (we were standing in a parking lot, just for romantic reference). We stepped apart and I started to turn back toward my car when he grabbed me and tried to kiss down my neck. I had to physically shove him off. During all of this, he told me that my fitness and calm demeanor made him feel insecure, and that he’d “like to take you down a notch, have you calling me ‘sir’” and pressuring me to go to his hot tub with him. Obviously I haven’t spoken to him since, but I’ve wondered what he would have been like if we ended up alone together like that.

Probably a lot like this guy.
