I've been watching crime shows lately and the recurrent theme seems to be women who didn't believe their crazy/controlling/creepy partners would actually cross that line and kill them.

Instead of blaming them for the situations they ended up in, I think it's more constructive to ask ourselves why so many women are programmed to ignore their danger alert when it comes to men? I believe this applies to murderers, as well as LVMs.

The latest episode I watched was a woman who discovered her husband was prostituting himself to other men. When he found out that she knew, he killed her and his step-son. According to her closest friend, she wanted to leave but stalled because she "loved him".

The woman's mother didn't report her missing until 2 months had passed, by which time he had ripped the floorboards out and completely renovated his home. The neighbors even said that he spent weeks on end burning furniture in the back yard. The excuse he gave was that she walked out on him for another man.

I just don't understand how so many failings can happen in one situation. From her judgement, to her family not checking in on her, to the police buying his story that maybe he did just want to renovate his home.

As of 2020, it appears as though he still hasn't been found guilty of their murders. It's been 3 years.
