I've been getting chat invites from dudes who seem to ask well meaning questions at first but after one response it turns out not to be the case. Guys who do this are looking to challenge and debate.

So yeah, no more. If they wanted to learn in good faith, they would read the handbook or go to r/askfds.

I have been seeing an increase in male lurkers posting. Especially with people having more time on their hands it might get worse. A lot of them were commenting on my post because I changed my settings where they can’t message me

why don't you do something useful with the quarantine? here's some suggestions: start journaling, meditating, learn a language, STOP YOURSELF FROM REACHING OUT TO YOUR EXES, volunteer to buy groceries for the elderly, donate $, food, or blood, help out your close friends or family in need (babysit, cook meals, take their garbage out, etc).

I have been away for about a week but coming back I'm seeing more posts that are baiting, questionable - and can't help but wonder if it's a man trying to expose the "chink" in our armor? 😹 At the very least could be some pickmes trying to get attention.

I received a couple of chat invites from guys but I ignored them. I don't care to educate them nor do I care what they think, ignoring them seemed like the best option.

If it helps, I just joined this sub because I saw it mentioned as a “very toxic” sub, and I took a look out of curiosity. I started reading the handbook yesterday and finished today, and It was immediately apparent to me that this sub is far from toxic. Anyone with a working mind should be able to see that. The name-calling and the trash-talking on other subs will perhaps backfire to people with a little curiosity!

And now that I’m here, I’m all in. I’ve never considered myself as having low standards, but I recognize now that I have absolutely given men (and people in general) the benefit of the doubt, when I should have been approaching them already thinking they need to prove themselves. I’ve also succumbed to the sunk cost fallacy in the past. I’ve reached the point where I plan on being single, but am working to make sure I’m going to get maximum enjoyment from my life as such. In other words I’m not ready or looking to date right now, but I’m not opposed to it down the line after I’ve got all of my own needs met. The problem for me is feeling like I’m awkward about dating, and being 100% transparent and impulsive. Sometimes I truly didn’t care about the consequences, other times, it bit me and it hurt. But I felt like it was who I was. Now I think it’s merely a lack of discipline that I’ve allowed to become ingrained.

I love the ideology about having high expectations for yourself first, and then for others. I love the calling out of modern day so called feminism, and the straight up lies they propagate. I’ve been shaking my head over the mixed messages and confusion created by those lies for some time now, and finally there is truth spelled out here. I’m sick of the relationship advice posts that make me want to yell at people for posting about a dumpster fire relationship while singling out only a fraction of the whole and asking “is this bad?”

I could go on. But I’ll just say thank you to you all for existing and contributing. I look forward to reading more.
