I’ll be honest I can’t blame hookup culture on the lack of viable men nowadays. Our foremother suffragettes who pushed for prohibition (temperance movement) namely because of domestic violence along with the rape, beatings and murders that occurred from drunken out of work husbands wouldn’t think that men today are any worse than back in the 20th century. Our foremother hippies who spread the free love movement (protesting the military industrial complex) would say that it wasn’t unlike the hookup culture today and men aren’t really that different. The real difference is our ability as women in the 21st century to reach out and talk to other women about our relationships or lack there of in an online setting. I hate the idea that I’ll probably never find a proper husband in today’s porn sick, self-centered and unemployed or underemployed male population. Men offer nothing nowadays but men in many different decades and many different geo-political situations also offered nothing. Personally speaking, if a guy gives you any indication he doesn’t value you, meaning he doesn’t respect your thoughts and opinions, your time and personal boundaries, your clothing and sense of style, your family and friends then just cut him off and move on. There’s plenty more LVM out there to spend lonely nights with but don’t get sucked into giving yourself to him. I just don’t believe there are any HVM even out there. I think it’s an entire mythology about the male population that’s been perpetrated by the patriarchy to get women to marry and settle down. I don’t believe people’s social media “my life and husband are perfect” stories either. Sorry not sorry I just don’t buy it. People seem miserable nowadays and that has more to do with our indebted servitude to a society that has absolutely paralyzed an entire generation of people from being able to find and secure healthy relationships.
