For a while I did actually ponder whether I might actually be a lesbian as my admiration was always directed towards female teachers and influences, and I was attracted to their integrity, ambition and general awesomeness. I was fascinated by them. That was pretty consistent throughout my teens and young adulthood, whilst I found myself simultaneously having romantic and sexual crushes on boys (then later men) but being repulsed my them.

I in no way intend to trivialise the lived experience of lesbians for one second. Its just a thought process that occurred to me from time to time. Even the most handsome,clever guys instantly turned me off by their attitude and behaviour.

Now I know I’m heterosexual as I am unfortunately only emotionally and physically attracted to men. But as people, I think women are much more admirable in every possible way.

Be it nature or nurture (I think it’s nature, I was genuinely into boys/masculinity when I was 4), I still don’t know how to get around it at this point. Gay conversion is a failure, so I can’t imagine straight conversion would fare any better.
