Unfortunately I saw this coming! I can’t even imagine what that poor girl is going through! Running away from war and meeting this! A lot of Ukrainian women are going through this. My mom always said “ no matter how bad things are for a woman, there is a man that will make it worse". The man should get life imprisonment, because the victim will never be the same.

Keep male volunteers OUT of refugee camps. They are too much of a risk to women and children.

I have lived in 3 separate countries, on 2 different continents. Men, whether rich or poor, ugly or handsome, fat or fit, WILL ALWAYS ACT THE SAME. Some are worse than others and it’s our job to make sure we vet while keeping safe. I feel so sorry for this young lady. I hope she has the opportunity to get some therapy in the future because this is going to cause some issues for her in the future.

Edit to add: this also happened with the Syrian refugees. Men were literally passing themselves off as minors to take the place of needy children. They were raping women in the camps. It was horrible.

I am reading a book called “Men Who Hate Women”. It’s worth a read. It shows that it isn’t religion or culture that makes these people violent, it’s their need to control and abuse.

Fucking hell. The UK has just opened up a system where you can house Ukrainians until it’s safe to go back. They highlighted that a lot of the people seeking homes are women and children. All I could think of was please UK do not fuck this up, in 18 months I don’t want to see some massive scandal in the news about how the UK let vulnerable people live with predators they didn’t spend enough time and money vetting. Because OF COURSE there will be men salivating at the thought of access to ‘women and children’ all they have to do is offer a spare room in their house. This country has a shameful past about mistreating vulnerable asylum seekers and refugee’s. I fear Ukraine is going to be added to a long list of disgrace.
