Once I had encephalitis and was throwing up for 15 days straight. At some point during this all the laundry was dirty and a lot of it was covered in vomit. My nvm ex wouldn’t go to the laundromat even though I could barely stand up. So I went and just tried not to get sick. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be that selfish.

Also my mom, when I was born, left my older brother who was a toddler home with dad while she was in the hospital giving birth, and she said that they totally trashed the house, dirty clothes all over the floor, sink full of dirty dishes, trash overflowing out of the garbage can, etc. and when she got home with a newborn me after giving birth she had to clean it all up.

That level of selfishness is literally disgusting but it’s so common for men to be that way.

Good point! I got the single-dose vaccine, and had the same reaction: Body aches, extreme fatigue. I wish you had someone to bring you soup. I hope you feel better soon!

Wow, that reminded me of my most recent ex. His family invited me over for Christmas, and while I was nervous/excited, I came down with a horrible cold. So I had to cancel. If it was a sniffles situation, I would’ve made it work but o had a fever and couldn’t breathe. I’d gone to the doctor. He kept pushing for me to come. Like overly insisting because hIS mOm WaS eXPeCtInG mE <—remember that. It was starting to become infuriating how much he would not take my no. My friend at the time was pissed for me and told me to turn my phone off. He didn’t even try to help me out, he just kept pushing for me to come. Eventually I caved in. AND I was guilted into cooking the food that I’d offered to bring before I’d gotten sick. Looking back at that, what the fuck?? Of course when I stayed over, his family made comments about loud snoring and coughing at night. Well yeah, I can’t breathe and I don’t feel well. What did you expect?

He did something similar when I had really bad gastroenteritis the same weekend we were supposed to go to an anime convention (I’d gotten him tickets for Christmas). He was really mad that I said for him to go by himself and to enjoy, I just don’t have the energy and couldn’t eat anything but rice and Gatorade. And that was barely working because everything was hot lava diarrhea no matter what I ate. He kept pushing for “well the next day when we go...” and I had to remind him, like dude I am not feeling well. I’m not going. My “compromise” was going on the last day, but I really didn’t want to. He never respected my boundaries.

Back to the mom thing, it became apparent if things didn’t go according to whatever plan she had and she threw a fit, I went right under the bus to make her happy. Like why are you dating me if you are so concerned with her thoughts and feelings at the expense of me? He was such a Mamas Boy. She was clearly also a narc too.

DUDE. Let me recount for you a story I'm sure I've posted here. About a decade ago I had that 48 hr bug (where you vomit and have cramps and diarrhea, muscle soreness, can't sleep, feel constantly nauseous, get the hots and colds, the whole 9). I was woefully unprepared for this with a lack of any bland food (the mere idea of readymade garlic noodles almost sent me to the toilet right then and there to throw up) and told my then-NVM bf. Let me be clear, I was very ill. My room was up a flight of stairs and the bathroom was downstairs, which my legs were shaking so bad I had a hard time getting to. I was dehydrated since I couldn't keep down water for long, I was dizzy. I told NVM how sick I was and he said he'd come over, so I asked him to stop at the store (literally on the road he takes to get to my apt) for some bananas. He says sure. A few min later I say something to the effect of "I don't know how long this will last, could you also please pick up a thing of applesauce and a couple cans of chicken noodle soup? I'll pay you when you get here" and he had the NERVE to respond "I'm not your fucking delivery boy." That is a sentence I will never forget. You'd think I'd asked him for the moon or that I constantly asked him for things, which I didn't. Unfortunately I didn't respond how I should have, I apologized and assumed I was being needy. Blessing in disguise though, because I mulled over that convo for a couple weeks before I finally cut the cord. I kept imagining how he'd treat me if I were very very ill or injured or pregnant (seeing as I was already quite I'll and then had to put up with this too, I was less than impressed). Initially the breakup seemed amicable but apparently when it sank in, he was DEVASTATED and tried to get me back, cried, sent me back a box full of everything I'd gifted him ever with a note telling me "this is what we WOULD have done for Valentine's day this year if we were together (dumped him a few weeks prior, and he never did shit so I guarantee he made that up to make me feel bad), then when he ran into me by happenstance one day shortly before vday he asked me to talk in his car. He was weird and upset and wanted me back and hit me with the line "you're one of the most selfish people I've ever met but we should give this another shot" which made me laugh and I went to get out of the car, but he grabbed my wrist. I told him to let go (we were in a public parking lot). He then got upset and assumed I MUST have been cheating in order to break up with such a winner as him and a few months down the road I found revenge porn he'd posted. Unfortunately revenge porn was not illegal in the state at the time so I had to pay several hundred bucks, get a professional to pull it down from the site after consulting with a lawyer. But dumping that sad loser? Priceless. Best choice I ever made. And all over some soup. ANYWHO hoped anyone reading this never had this happen, and all this to vent and say if your partner can't be bothered to care if help you when you're sick, dump them. Do you really want to have to deal with that when you're VERY ill? If you decide to have children? Absolutely not. Dump the loser and heal from two illnesses at once! This reminds me of when I had a 103 degree fever, could barely get out of bed, and my lvm ex refused to drop Gatorade off at my house on hiss way home from work because he...."forgot."

My god, this reminds me of the time I was living together with my LVM ex. Whenever I got sick I would go to my mom’s place cause she would actually take care of me, my ex would just disappear to work, not come back home as soon as he could, and when he came home would still let me cook dinner. No warming up soup for me, getting me a blanket and tissues and a kiss on my forehead. I’m grateful for my mom, who would welcome me with open arms and take care of me.

Lord, my husband got the J&J and it is no joke! Just came here to say I'm sorry and I hope you feel better soon. Drink lots of water and keep pounding the Tylenol. Just hang in there for them antibodies!

My ex husband used to be kind when I was sick. He'd sleep on the couch so I could have the whole bed. But then alcohol happened and he changed.

I had to have a minor gyn procedure that required sedation. I couldn't drive after and I was nauseated/throwing up from the sedative. He stopped at a rest stop and I asked him to buy me tissues to wipe my mouth. He came back with burger King (a smell i normally can't stand anyway but especially not when nauseous) and handed me napkins from the bag. That smelled like the food that added to my nausea. As I was bleeding more than I expected, I asked him to take me to the store for pads. He would only take me to the corner store which didn't have what I wanted. He refused to take me to the bigger store because he invited friends over. When I had to go back for a follow up a few months later, he bailed ok driving me, making me have to scramble to find a friend who was available to go with me.

In sickness and in health my ass.

I’ve experienced this so many times, i truly want to start doing this as a “test” to weed the bad guys out. I made a post last year where I walked my dog with a guy who was interested and I later got sick, he couldn’t care less and then proceeded to keep asking me out.

In January I had a phone call planned with a guy I met online, I randomly got sick that morning and told him I didn’t think I could make our evening call, he left me on read until the next day when he asked if I wanted to try another call that evening. I was feeling better but was so turned off that he didn’t even say “oh, hope you feel better” that I told him I didn’t want to talk anymore.

I was seeing this guy a while ago and had a ton of things happen to my body while I was seeing him. One month my period was late and he literally did not give one single fuck (huge red flag) and the next month I got sick and he seemed worried over text but didn’t offer to bring any meds over.

I live with chronic lower back pain that when flairs up is awful — can’t walk, can’t do anything comfortably, I’m just miserable.

When I was dating a long distance LVM he decided to surprise me with a visit while I was in the tail end of a recent back spasm episode.

First thing he did? Push me back on to the bed to fulfill his sexual needs, also had the gall to ask me to get on top. Needless to say, my back did not respond well to that and I broke up with him shortly after the visit.
