Ok so I'm not saying I put my issues on display and tell men all my personal business. I have worked to heal so it's not as obvious that I come from dysfunction. I mean it from the viewpoint of if a guy eventually meets or picks up on how your father has mistreated you, neglected you (emotionally or otherwise), or how he is just lackluster and low value, is that going to send a message to men that you're not worthy?

It's a very sick thing to even have to think about but in this society, men seem to take cues from other men (and women are also blamed for having "daddy issues"). Will high value men also do this? Even if just on a subconscious level?

Some dads are more obviously low value (dead beat, drug addicted, physically abusive, etc) and some are in more subtle ways. For example, my father is a professional man who has provided the basics for his family but he was emotionally abusive, makes everyone pay for themselves most times when we go out as a family, has always been reluctant to help us financially/not very generous (very tight with his money/cheap when it comes to us but buys himself expensive things), didn't protect in situations it was needed the most, etc... My dad was very strict and controlling (parents are still married btw). I was somewhat spoiled with material things when I was very young (like 6 and under) but after that it stopped..and I was never spoiled with love, care, or protection like some fathers do with their daughters. I have always longed for that...

I've put physical and emotional distance between my family and I (lots of covert narcissistic, low value behavior going on..but some people are less toxic than others) and I carry myself like my standards are high. But what if eventually a high value man wants to have dinner with my family, go home for a holiday, or do the traditional thing and talk to my dad before proposing? I no longer value my dad's opinion on my dating life that much but what if my significant other does for whatever reason?

I don't want my father putting anything in his ear that would negatively affect our relationship. I don't want to hear him say something about me needing to "contribute financially", etc or anything misogynistic around my possible future spouse. I don't think I want to cut ties with my dad completely, but I may need to distance myself more eventually. I'm trying to level up my life and I don't want anyone sending messages to the world that I'm only worthy of the bare minimum, if that.

My life doesn't revolve around getting a man but eventually I would like to meet a HVM I connect with. I would hope that he would think for himself, respect and support my need to distance from my family, and that he would be respectful, but take my dad's opinion with a grain of salt. Just thinking ahead because it's very possible this could be an issue. What do you think? Is it only low value men who will let your dad affect his view of you? Are there any women here with low value fathers but a high value significant other or spouse?

*Didn't mean to make this question too personal but I'm also curious in a general sense about how high value men react to women w/low value fathers, and dysfunctional families in general.
