(TL;DR at the bottom)

Hello, I'm stupid bitch, I've been in a relationship with this dude for 17? 18? months, I honestly couldn't care less to count or remember.

The honeymoon phase was great, we matched really well since we were both funny and chill, small fights often just get laughed at in the end while big fights gets talked about in detail until we both come to an understanding of each other's side. Great, right? After the honeymoon phase, it was still great. Of course, the whole mushy lovey dovey thing dialed down but we entered both our comfort zones and had landed into lowkey territory.

I'll just get straight to the point. Everything had turned into shit these last few months. Whenever we have fights, I'm now the only one to put my head down first, I'm the one who says sorry first, I'm the one that tries to endure all his shit. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy, loyal, and faithful, but he has mAD ANGER ISSUES. I'm not even kidding, for some reason, every single time we fight he just turns it up a notch even when I'm already calmed down. Verbatim, he told me that "he doesn't care about me" or that "my attitude is trash" and right afterwards telling me that "he only said that because he was mad." I countered by saying "even when you're mad, shouldn't you still respect the person you love, or any other person for that matter?" And he just didn't get it.

Whenever we'd fight, I'd cry a lot but he just tells me to "stop crying," and he even once told me to "not call him even when I'm crying because he doesn't care." He has shown a shit ton of red flags despite being a somewhat sweet guy on the outside. He loves having his own personal space and time and I try to understand that but he gets mad when I ask him for "time with me." The status of our relationship pretty much just depends on his mood. When he's fine, we're ok, but when he gets mad, suddenly I'm the worst person in the earth.

I know I'm a bit high maintenance because I have a lot of insecurities and anxieties, I also get depressed a lot but it's something that I deal with ON MY OWN and I know how to take care of myself, there are just times that it comes back up, I told him about it and he said "well now I'll be with you and you can count on me," aww, well stupid bitch fell for it. I tried to explain to him how it feels to have anxiety, how my brain works, how its hard for me to control my overflowing emotions or how hard it is to calm down during a panic attack but he just doesn't understand. He's never been exposed to such a thing and he couldn't care less to try and understand me no matter how eloquently I try to.

(TL;DR) Anyways, I've gone on a rant for too long, this is just what I want:

  • No matter how many times I keep breaking up with my semi-shitty boyfriend I still kept crawling back to him (this just further skyrocketed his self esteem into thinking he can treat me like trash since I'll never leave anyways)

  • I'm aware of his red flags and bad behavior but I just can't stop myself from loving him. No, I don't have any other hobbies to distract him off my mind. I have friends but they're close friends with my BF too so I don't want to start bad blood by talking to them about this.

  • My past relationships ended poorly which is why I am able to move on easily (cheated on me, etc.). But there really isn't a major issue here that I can pick on to make him look truly bad in my eyes.

  • I inherited this super "loving" trait from my mother, even after my dad cheated on her twice (or even more, I only know what I had caught), they're still together to this day since she keeps taking him back. I'm aware of this yet I can't stop. Even I myself feel that if my boyfriend cheated on me, I'd still won't leave because I love him WAY TOO MUCH.

  • How do I stop loving so "obssessively"?

  • I know my worth, I have dignity, I have spent years (and still going) on a pursuit to fully know who I am and be in touch with my emotions. But suddenly all my knowledge gets thrown out the window whenever dealing with this guy.

  • He's pretty much just my kryptonite.

  • I really, badly, need help. Everytime I break up with him he just says "ok" and lets me be, probably knowing full well I'll come back pleading for him to take me back again.

THE NEXT MORNING EDIT: hi, I wrote this while half asleep and bawling my eyes out. I realized that I may have been biased in speaking and made him out to be such a bad guy. There really are good qualities about him, it's just that the ratio between the good things he does and the bad things he does is 1:3 or 1:2 at best. The worst thing he does is deflection, he rarely holds himself responsible for anything, always trying to pin the blame on something (like pinning the blame on me for why he's angry- I explain to him that its always HIS choice how to act in any situation) but whenever I try to explain his behavior to him it just flies over his head. To be honest, I'm hopeful that things might change. Thinking that I may be able to teach him things (he's ignorant and oblivious to a lot of things, dense too), and maybe I might be able to change him. Thank you for the comments, I'm starting to realize that that's wishful thinking and behaviors like these are just... hopeless.
