why would the fruit of my labor and time go into his bank account? even if i get married, a joint bank account besides anything for automatic bills/shared expenses would be a hard sell. the foolishness of it all 🤦‍♀️

Always. Always. Always. Have you’re own account. Always. Have I said Always. You’re own bank account, safety deposit box, tin can buried in the backyard. That you keep an absolute secret. Tell no one. And not just for a rainy day for both of you. Just for you. The old what’s yours is his and what’s his is yours is BS. It’s always what’s yours is his what’s his is his. When/if things go south believe he’s got all kinds of hidden assets. (Unless he’s really a broke ass loser.) Save enough to be ok should anything happen. I mean if you should split up. It’s devastating enough, you don’t have to worry financially too. Always look out for you.
