Once I was explaining to my LVX that it's not okay for him to disappear on me for days with no contact, and he said that's because he knows I'm an independent woman so he didn't think I need constant contact. And it worked. I shut up.

This is why I take offense when men call me a “strong independent woman”. I’ve had multiple men say this to me on dates. It comes across as condescending. Why not just say “Oh wow, you’ve achieved a lot! That’s impressive.” Calling women ~strong independent women~ is another way of patronizing us and an attempt to put us down, in my opinion.
