I realised this with my first boyfriend.

He seemed like a unicorn compared to the ones after.

Decent looking, athletic, nice guy wouldn’t cheat or get violent. Nice manners. But that’s it.

He had no real personality or depth. There’s no way we could of got married, it would of felt fake.

Men are so terrible they make the plain Joe’s look special, when they’re not.

Men are so bad they think they’re doing you a favour by attempting to hide their cheating. Pftttt lol

They think acting fake nice to our face for 3-6 months is some kind of achievement.

Just speaks volumes that they find it such an effort to pretend to respect women. Cant keep the mask on long most of them.

It’s why you’re not satisfied even when you land a ‘better’ one- because the bar is in hell. And the mediocre ones get put on a false pedestal for not being violent cheating scumbags.

Try watching one of those cheesy action movies like Law Abiding Citizen where a guy's entire female part of the family is violently raped and wiped out by street scum, which gives him the background to be the badass that hunts them down one by one. The female characters are only purposed to die/suffer so he can go all Rambo, good man fights the forces of evil.

Normalized male violence gives violent men excuses for their actions, lets mediocre men act like a hero for doing basic shit for the girls they like, and lastly: allows these same mediocre men use male violence as a scare tactic for the women they DON'T like to "warn her away from bad behavior".

This is why so many guys lamely stand by when shitty things happen to us. They pay lip service to how bad it is but they sure do use it to try and police what we do. It's too beneficial for them to truly put in the work to dismantle it.
