Wow lmao... makes me think of the story about the woman who’s man proposed to her with the tiniest ring possible. I mean... this thing was microscopic. When she asked why it was so small he said it was test to see if she actually loved him or if she only cared about material things. Of course she “failed” the test for not being in love with the ring and everyone in the comments were calling her a bitch... but no one calls out the guy for turning the proposal into a “test” instead of it being an expression of his love for her

I hate seeing these posts about rings. Yeah, they really need to have a ring to propose with. But they should really converse with you to determine the style you prefer. Or even better, know exactly what you like. Cut, size, diamond or not, and what price you are comfortable with.

To me a ring symbolizes his willingness to invest in our future together. If he buys a cheap ring just to propose to you, is he really thinking about the investment that getting married needs to be? I'm not saying that an engagement ring is only valuable if it's absurdly expensive, but it needs to be something that is quality (to last), in your tastes, in your size, and in line with your values (conflict free diamonds, opinions on heirloom or secondhand rings, etc).

This is the test of unconditional love people look for because their parents didn't love them so they need 'I alone am enough' not realizing this isn't adult love. Adults have adult responsibilities.

Also I hate people who glorify poverty. If you love someone you want them to live well, not shame them for having standards. Love and money aren't exclusive.
