I had goosebumps listening to this woman. I believe every word, and she has enough years on earth to have been subject to male behaviour.

Her anger is palpable, and so is mine. We live in opposite sides of the world, and yet we have both been subject to sexual abuse.

I would not be able to count the number of men who have sexually harassed me, I’m a little bit able to count the number men who have sexually assaulted me, and I can mostly count the number of men who have raped me. These are all mostly separate individual men. That’s not even counting catcalling, creep stares, being followed or stalked, being photographed without my consent…

Unbelievably relatable. I KNOW it’s “not everyone”, we all know that, in fact we often give men that SEEM “nice” more of a chance than they should be given... but it’s unbelievably true that we have all had these experiences. Every single one of us.

At 11 an older guy at school (17) befriended me. I was a lonely autistic kid and I thought I had a cool new friend. Then he terrorized me by molesting me.

At 12-13 I would walk down the aisles of the classroom and five guys would hit my ass. If I had told anyone, I’d have been blamed. I went to a fundie Christian school and would have been told to wear a goddamn bag around my butt.

At 13-14 my friends older brother would text me “I want to tie you up” and sick shit. This guy who was way older and wanted to be a PASTOR. I had to repeatedly ignore him or block him, but he would use his friends phones to say nasty shit to my 13 year old self.

14-15 I’d see men at the supermarket leering at me disgustingly. When I pointed it out to my mom once, she wasn’t even surprised or shocked and acted like it was natural.

16-17, I had a chemistry teacher who paid me special attention. He ended up texting me (yeah, wtf) asking me for sex and telling me repeatedly how beautiful I was. He was over 60.

College of course was multiple other occasions of being followed down the street walking to my dorm in the evening and being screamed at. Being basically forced to drink until my coworker was able to rape me. Men cutting off friendships with me because I didn’t want to fuck them.

It’s too many men. It’s a pattern in EVERY WOMANS LIFE. Every single one of us. How the fuck do we just not be mad? How can we accept this for our daughters and theirs??

They just tell us we are full of shit. Yet, whenever a topic goes in that direction every single woman has a few experiences to share.
