i just dont get it, if ur spouse is earning money then you should be happy the bills are being paid and thats shes successful. it means men dont have to earn as much for their living and they should be happy but they arent because they want to have all the control. i know so many marriages that could fail if the women started earning more lol

For men, making more money is one of the few ways they have left to try to assert control over women. And many of them would probably deny that it bothers them but their behavior says otherwise. Some of the OLDS have questions about how you'd feel if your partner earned more than you. How many men answer they'd be happy or thrilled but if they were in a marriage with a woman who made the same or more than them that would start acting like a petulant child?

All you have to do is read a few posts on TRP or PPD and most of these men truly believe that all women looking for a long term relationship want above all else is for a man to give them "stability." The male definition of showing "stability" is "look how much money I make." They still play into the cliche gender roles that men are the breadwinners and protectors. They don't want these roles for altruistic, unselfish reasons. They claim these roles as theirs so they feel entitled to take control.

Sorry men, your dick doesn't entitle you to shit.

Women should make as much money as they possibly can so they can make decisions in their or their children's best interests without having money being the deciding factor that keeps them in a shitty or abusive relationship.

I don't need a man's monetary stability. I made my own. If you're a shitty human being I'm not going to put up with you. If you're toxic, you're erased from my life. Doesn't matter if you're a female friend, a boyfriend or a relative.

Well, they need to get used to it. Women are majority of educated workforce now and will continue to dominate the workforce. Eventually the glass ceiling will break and more women will be breadwinners

Can confirm. I have worked my butt off in a good job that sees regular pay increases (im over 6 figures to give you an idea of the kind of pay bracket) and Im a killer budgeter; I could lose my job tomorrow and be fine for a year with mimimal change to my lifestyle. The only time ive not had finances be an issue was when my partner earned the same or more than me, and even then they would get a bit funny about my savings habit. Financial security and capacity is awesome. Get on board or get out of the way.

So glad my partner is delighted for me when I earn more and encourages me to take new opportunities and get ahead in my career just as he does in his work. We both make the same money and it's massively reduced his stress levels from what they were when I was stuck in my crappy part-time job.
