My girl Nicole Byer says this on her podcast all the time and she's 100% right. Texting is false intimacy. Having long, deep conversations with dudes on tinder makes you seem like you're getting closer to that person, but it's all essentially a waste of time until you meet.

Texting, in my opinion, can enhance intimacy once it is developed, but it is not a substitute for the real thing. He may seem super cool over text and that's great! But that should not be the basis if your relationship, and you should not know everything about one another by the first date.

Here's what works for me when a dude is trying to waste my time by having days long text-versations on OLD: I just tell him "this would be better discussed over dinner" and 9 times out of 10 he gets the hint and asks me out. The guy who doesn't wasn't ever going to anyway, he was just using you for emotional labor or he has a girlfriend and is wasting your time while giving him a thrill. I don't make the rules.

Once the date is set, there's no need to keep chatting. Your time is reserved for men who earn it.

tl;dr - Don't waste your time texting. Your time is valuable and real chemistry can only be determined in person.
