So I went to a work out course, I personal messages a mod(also a woman) asking if the space was comfortable for women and about my concerns before going. After getting there I notice it’s mostly men and very socially awkward at that. I’m in a sports bra and leggings and I swear the amount of unashamed staring was disgusting. It is martial arts, there are a few other women but men are PUSHING me to practice with them as if I am in their weight class and it’s in any way reasonable to practice with me or safe(!). I’m leaving with head phones on and reading a book and one of them physically puts his hand in front of my book to ask if I am busy. No fucking shit I’m busy I’m in the middle of reading. I refuse to feel pressured out of a space or alter my actions to avoid men with no social understanding. But fuck I did not want to end up getting labeled the “rude bitch” so early in. I held my tongue Bc it was the first day but I’m so annoyed by my experience.
