I think taking ‘compliments’ with simple ‘thanks, i know’ is a good response to show the true character of the man - if he gets butthurt he’s LVM, if he laughs then he’s chill enough to handle your confidence and is not trying to be predatory on insecure girls

Of course probably in situation 1 on 1, on the date, it wouldn’t be the best reply, but until someone gets to go on a date with you it’s completely fine

this is not a "must follow" advice but I would like to add; this is why I don't accept drinks from men. it's a tool to make you more vulnerable (tipsy/drunk) and make you be in "debt" for them.

in theory they should know that buying you stuff is a way to win you over, it's an investment, and sometimes you lose on your investment. but they don't think of this that way. they think, they gave you money in one way or another, so they bought their right to have sex with you.

just bc they don't give you money straight they still think of you as a prostitute. funny thing is they don't know that they think of you as a prostitute. they don't think that giving you free stuff and expecting sex is the same as giving money to a prostitute for sex.

I only accept proper dates from men and maybe gifts when we get each known a little bit more. bc I feel like those 2 are still associated with courting rather than trying to pressure you into sex. though I know there are LVM who still think a dinner date entitle them for sex.

so while I feel like dinner dates are more associated with courting and drinks are more associated with hookups there's still a lesson here;

if you accept anything from a man, make sure you are safe when you reject his advances, and do not ever feel guilty about saying no and not having sex with him.

There is this favorite hangout of mine where I meet my friends every Friday night. I have no relationship and I am not looking for one. I always hang out there with my friends, no male companion around. Not one single night passes without being hit on, offered drinks, sometimes even grabbed, harassed. Most of those dudes are at least 20 years older than me and generally unattractive so I have not the slightest motivation to flirt with them. Many cannot take no for answer. They come back every week and keep bugging me. Some stopped only when I threatened to call the police because he had grabbed my arm. Of them I had to humiliate on front of everyone so he would finally stop hitting on me. For many men, a woman without a male companion is fair game. They don't even listen when you say no. They don't get cues like turning away or going away. They sit next to you like they were invited. I have to say "Excuse me, I want to sit alone here" many times. There is zero respect for a woman without a male companion. I am talking about Western Europe, mind you.

Liquored up men are the worst. They have little self awareness sober and what they have flies out the window when they drink. I'm lucky I look like melted cheese. When I went out over the weekend men didn't speak to me. One really drunk one got angry because I said excuse me when he was blocking the exit. Men 🤦‍♀️

I remember a dude I used to know talked about going to a bar out of town with a friend and how a cute girl and an “ugly ass bitch” came to talk. Ofc the “ugly one” was flirting with him and he was pushing it away then once he asked his friend to dip she followed him outside to which he replied “fuck off ugly”. Lost whatever remnant of respect I had for him.

Honestly, I don't get that kind of answer either. It's great to be confident and god knows that's what I'm striving for. But I really don't understand why someone would want to answer "I know" to a compliment (unless it's to tell the person to piss off). It's slightly passive agressive and it's not an appropriate answer for normal socialisation.

I don't really get it either so I can't blame that specific guy for being turned off by it. Although he should have just laughed it off and walked away. That's how I react when I meet people full of themselves.
