I keep seeing these tik toks where the guy is like “this is how you impress women” and it shows him doing the dishes or taking out the trash. Wow I’m supposed to be impressed that you can clean up after yourself and don’t expect a woman to be your maid? How sad

My ex indeed expected ovations after taking out trash or washing up after the meal. Mentality of a 8-yo boy.

always when i think the bar for men has hit rock bottom they seem to get motivated to dig deeper

It’s just ridiculous. Women are expected to do so much more when it comes to housework as well as work and take care of the kids. After all, who needs to pull their weight when they know their spouse will be conditioned into taking care of it all because it’s “women’s work”?

Lmao fr as if we are meant to be impressed by a man finally learning to grow up mentally instead of being and adult child who needs a mommy/therapist as a partner.

And if women continue to accept and tolerate shitty behavior from men in the name of "love" - they'll continue to get worse and worse and worse. Wonder why modern men act so much like literal babies? Because women keep pampering and mommying them but at the same time still treat them as greater than women.
Women need to be ruthless and firm - save your empathy and care for toddlers, babies, animals, orphans - those who actually deserve them. A potential partner does not need your care, he needs to prove that he is the best qualified partner for you.
Be ruthless ladies. Be ruthless.

Is it sad that I currently think men like this don’t exist
[–]EclecticBarbarellaFDS Disciple62 points63 points64 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was literally just thinking that it’s so sad that men would rather try to neg us and shame us for having standards than just become decent human beings that meet those standards. I really don’t feel like “decent, functional human adult” is asking for the moon

the bar is so low and they still can’t meet it

They do - my brother in law is a great example! He does over 50% of the housework whilst working, because my sister cooks and raises their 1 yo. My sister is also pregnant. As he sees it is she's already doing so much with his family, that he can do extra as she's exhausted by the end of the day. The best thing, is he does this all without expecting recognition or praise, because it's just him doing what he needs to to make his wife happy and comfortable (I only know because O currently live with them).
I agree - it's hard to think "they don't exist". But I think it's a really dangerous mentality for us to have (at least for myself) because when you think you've "found one", you're more likely to revert back to old pickme ways to keep him. They're rare yes, but we're also rare women in the way we approach the world and dating.

Ugh this is so true. It’s sad how much our expectations are managed down ever since we were kids.

I’m sorry but can you say it louder for the people in the back?
[–]DangerousRiver9FDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep. So tired of pickmeishas worshipping men who just act like normal, decent people.

I’m slowly learning this

Solomon speaks the truth. I've seen so much praise for men who are actually decent, as if they need incentive to do the bare minimum. Its embarrassing for everyone honestly.

You know why do I think them special, because they're very rare. It's so hard for me to find an emotionally intelligent, kind man. Trust me, I've met enough men, but only two of them were kind. I PLAN TO STAY SINGLE.

What the fuck is wrong with all these commenters? The irony is palpable
[–]kycakeFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
exactly, let’s please raise the bar for males. taking care of yourself, your kid, and being a supportive partner should be the minimum. i really want to have a family but will never settle for a man who i think isn’t doing enough.

Absolutely.

My ex would berate me and say “who has it as good as you do !! Nobody !!” Because he would make me coffee in the morning and would wash the dishes once in awhile 🤦🏼♀️
