As a frontline healthcare worker, I have been put in the very awkward yet, somewhat, interesting position (of the socially experiment) vetting LVM and LVWomen based on their Covid-19 pandemic rhetoric.

Before I go any further, I want to preface this by saying that being pro or against vaccination is neither here nor there. But for the purpose of this discussion, following public health laws is.

My best friend, I am realizing she is low value for the following reasons: her unvaccinated “man”, who discarded her to hook up with other women, who then weaseled his way back in, also 6 years her junior, travelled abroad. In Canada, upon arrival, if unvaccinated you must quarantine for 14 days. Quarantine means no visitors, no guests. Well my best friend who has a single vax, ie. unvaccinated by Canadian standards, goes to and from his place, shacking up with him. She’s upset with me because I’ve declined her invites to come over to my place, for the aforementioned reasons. He actually got covid while partying in another city while hooking up with randos - but still, Delta is a thing.

A HVW would look at the facts and acknowledge, hey, what I am doing is against public health advice and if my BFF doesn’t agree with me, then I should respect her decision to physically distance. Versus doubling down, and saying it’s personal or spiteful to keep physical distance as a precaution since I work with an immunocompromised population.

My soon to be exhusband is another one of these (anti) cases.

While I’m glad the trash is taking itself out, I’m sad there is so much animosity between healthcare workers who are literally taking care of people with this rhetoric on their last breath, and the people dead set on invalidating our efforts and sacrifices despite the restrictions put in place to protect us, be it my best friend or husband.

I’m so tired.
