Literally wanting to go through the screen and physically attack her ex boyfriend. When he tried to prevent them from moving to a better life… when he sells her car... Anything to prevent her from gaining control. It was hard to watch

It was so well done! Absolutely hands down one of the best shows I've seen in a while. A really accurate depiction of how hard it is to get away, start over, how little resources many women have in the process...

I've got to say, I know the lawyer she cleaned for (can't remember her name) started out being awful, and there's a lot to be said about her contributions to classism & what's wrong with the world more generally, but I really liked the way those two supported each other in the end... especially with giving the main character access to an absolute beast of an attorney.

In an ideal world, every woman would have a sick lawyer on speed dial before getting involved with dudes. If I were in charge... 😅

Love how they show that abusers aren’t always mean and vicious. People act like abusers are always picking at you or beating you up and that’s not the case. The hot and cold is one reason why it’s hard to leave, you’re made out to feel as if “it isn’t that bad, he’s not like that all the time”.

It’s good at exploring the physical verses emotional abuse concept.

As well as social benefits and how you can’t make over a certain amount or you will be cut off and the judgment from others.

I got a few episodes in and had to stop.

My dad was a lot like her baby daddy growing up with the emotional abuse and games especially. All around a LVM. im happy my mom eventually separated and divorced him, because he had gotten violent towards her. The things he said to her and the way he acted reminds me so much of my own father, especially how he tries to be a cool fun guy to the daughter with that whole "lets hangout" attitude towards parenting and his mom is really the one watching her. The way he would deliberately sabotage or attempt to sabotage her was sickening and hit me hard.

The show was disturbing. I cried when she had to do all the dirty work and how broken the system was, how her own mother wouldn't help her, and how her own father had been abusive as well.

I cried when their apartment was covered in black mold and seeing the daughter keep getting sick. My house growing up had black mold. I was always getting sick. We had cats because we would have had mice. They were in our walls. The mom's untreated mental health disorder (im assuming she is bipolar) also is hard because I am pretty sure my mom also has it as well as an eating disorder and she won't seek treatment no matter how hard I try and even tried getting others to convince her. Distance is the only way we can have sort of a relationship.

The fact that her "friend" was only letting her use that car and stay at his house because he wanted a transactional relationship and knew he held power over her (ie he thought she needed him) was disgusting and very predatory. You can't be friends with most men, majority of the time they only want to shoot their shot.

My roomate can't understand why I can't watch or finish the show. I did look up to see how it and ends and thank god Alex levels up. I won't ruin it. I'm just grateful for my grandparents they did majority of the raising me

What can I say, it's extremely accurate. Almost anything depicted is like I experienced it myself. Great product in my opinion and I'd wish as many people as possible would watch it.
