Even just on youtube/twitch- it’s always the male streamers who scream, rage break their controllers, hurl abuse when they are losing the game. But it is seen as ‘funny’ and ‘part of their character’. If a female streamer is like this? She’d get cancelled so hard.

It’s always men who get into violent fights after a major sporting event (e.g. soccer.) People have died from such events. But such brawls are seen as ‘normal’. How often do women beat each other up after a national sporting event??

When boys/men feel rage, it is expected they let it out, display their displeasure- it is considered assertive and manly in toxic ways. Women are taught to swallow their anger and smile prettily- to accomodate, to sacrifice-otherwise she’s a nagging bitch.

I’ve been called at work ‘crazy’ and ‘bitch’ for politely, but firmly standing up against people who trash talked me. By both men AND women. Cultural misogyny at work. But some men would openly scream and rage if things did not go their way at work. Did anyone call them ‘crazy’ or a ‘bitch’? HELL NO. They were tolerated- maybe an eyeroll or so.

But I was completely vilified for standing up for myself. POLITELY. The workplace taught me how men and women are treated differently, and how men can get away with SO MUCH MORE SHITTY ATTITUDES, because boys will be boys.
