As soon as i read punching down I was pulled off the article.

Like, feminists online mocking, lonely men isn't punching up either, it is punching down on a category of men who are already hurting and probably didn't even hurt you.

And no I don't think we should take misandry lying down.

Genuine issues exist for women, but a lot of it are systemic, focusing on systemic fixes, rather than punching down in the name of "venting".

This passage about how he gaslights himself is crazy:

This logic makes all prejudiced generalizations invincible. If a feminist says something horrible about men, then that's what happened: they have said something horrible about men. It's not like "well a feminist did say that, but what they really meant was just this man." If that's what they really meant, they would've been specific. Imagine reading this same passage, but it was written by a women who was trying to rationalize men talking sexist shit about women. What a sad passage.

He's not "waking up" after a second or two, he's lying to himself and suppressing his true feelings. The irony is insane given his newsletter is called "Make Men Emotional Again." Sounds like the author believes only certain male emotions are acceptable, and others need to be denied. Feminists and gender-role conservatives both want men to fit the stoic and repressed male gender role, and be the expendable protector and provider. This guy is also playing obediently into the protector/provider role, writing this article in order to "protect" feminists from push back and limits on how far they can berate men.

I almost became one of these guys, since I have leftwing values. So glad I chose to believe my own experience and think for myself (like women are encouraged to do) and truly "wake up" to the fact that a lot of these people just hate men. I don't need to lose sleep over it, and I handle that reality calmly. But it's the truth. And half the reason these guys gaslight themselves is they want to still believe they aren't hated by so many prejudice people. It's a tough reality, but one you can handle, and it's certainly easier to navigate the world if you know what's really going on.

Ngl I had hope for the title til I read a bit of content on that page. I've seen his page before, he definitely identifies as a feminist. I wouldn't take his word seriously.

I'll say it again, power-based approaches rely on toxic shame for change. They rely on actually viewing yourself through that lens in a negative fashion in order for people to actually change their behavior.

People need to either proverbially shit or get off the pot. Learn to accept the shame and the resulting personality traits and behaviors, the depression, the anxiety, etc. or recognize that the whole framework is harmful and replace it with something else more focused on actual behavior regardless of identity characteristics.

This is the part that bothers me. I have heard this speech way too many times. I have heard it plenty that these women "don't really mean it" or that they're just "venting their frustrations" and that I "have to not take it so personally" and all that jazz. The problem is that comments and the details are getting more personal especially when they add in adjectives like "striaght white cisgendered" into the mix. I'm sorry but it gets more personal after a while of all of this.

I also try to remember who my real enemies are. The fascists. The billionaires. The bloodthirsty warmongers. Defense contractors. Wall Street.

I really wish feminists would realize this. That the 1% is the enemy. Not your boyfriend, or your neighbor, or average men. But hey, we can just keep attacking men at the bottom and being mad at them for not being rich or handsome like the handsome, rich, manly men at the top (because that makes sense, right?).

There's some feminists out there who would make fun of and shame a disabled or bald or short man (very inclusive and progressive) but who would easily give a pass and talk about how handsome some guy they knew who is in finance is, because he "has himself together" even though, he works for a major financial institution on wall street.

To clarify, I don't care who women date. They don't owe me anything and I've dated many women, that's not the issue here. I'm talking about bullying and treating people with disrespect. I'm also talking about hypocrisy in performative leftism.

The idea that women "are dealing with bullshit" is not an excuse to "punch" towards anyone. Not autistic men. Not short men. Not bald men. Not disabled men. Not men who are struggling and don't have themselves together. Being traumatized is understandable but it's not an excuse to behave however you want and treat other people however you want due to your past. You still owe every human being basic human respect. And nobody progressive should take an entire gender and spout bigoted views. That's what bigotry is. You have a set of rigid beliefs about an entire group. The idea that men should just sit there and put up with it is bullshit. No. It's on women to not be hateful. Go heal. Stop criticizing men as a group. Your trauma is valid but your behavior is not. You owe your fellow human beings respect. You don't get to just sit there and talk about how an entire gender is shit, in front of people who are members of that gender, and ask them to put up with it. It's on you to heal and be respectful as a human being to other human beings.

If you're not going to be respectful towards men, how do you expect men to be respectful towards women? Millions of young men are losing empathy for feminism. Because of you making them feel ostracized rather than realizing they are your ally.

Fixed the title. The article is just cope.

It exists at this weird intersection between the old expectation to “man up and take it” and the more recent requirement to be utterly passive and deferential towards women and let them get away with everything.

They’re not necessarily contradictory, but they are both exhausting and I’m not surprised that young men aren’t lining up to perform this weird dance.

Well its probably how most male feminist think if you ask them, but in truth i think similar how i thought even though this level of self hate is even for me a bit to much they hope by steeping this low and hating there own gender and supporting the bigotry of the feminist they will eventually get a relationship or something similar out of it. Its just unholy amounts of cope but to anybody who things like this I want to tell you are most certainly just gone end as the back up plane they do not care for you but if you do anything they tell you, you can still become there serf, at least thats what i experienced and also what i read.

And do you really want to live with a person who hates you and half your family simply for being male?
