Yes that is indeed a different way of looking at it. I grew up in Western Europe, so I was taught about it a little differently. elective abortions past 3 months are mostly illegal in western europe, and very much frowned upon, even though that's a very liberal left wing part of the world.
In Europe, feminism is extended to female fetuses as well.
The way I look at it is that the fetus has personhood for a variety of reasons, particularly the fact that it has its own individual set of human dna, and if left alone, will age into an adult.
There are a lot of people in society that would be considered non-persons if they were sized up to the standard you described. Basically everyone laying in a hospital bed that needs assistance. The majority of these people rely on welfare or insurance that other people pay into. Same goes for most nursing homes and foster homes.. you'd have to cleanse these facilities as well because those peoples care are forced on to us. You could argue that they are not physically tied to us, but my bro, if 10% or more of my daily physical labor goes to care for them, that means 10% of my life is enslaved to them. This is against my will and consent.
The other ethic issue to consider is that living fetuses are helpless and easily exploitable. It is particularly cowardly to end a life that cannot consent to being ended. One that cannot even scream loudly enough to voice an objection yet. If you take a step back and look at the concept as a whole, it does look like a sneaky and cowardly of thing to do. Certainly not ethical in my personal honest opinion.
It's not one person anymore, it's two people's person-hoods and independence in question here. And they both deserve a chance at life.
People who want to make feminists angry? lululululul. I am pro choice but if it causes feminists anger and pain I sometimes think I should be against it.
