An exergation, but if you go to a 2 year school. You come out making 50k a year.
My job pays for your school for 2 years and you do work study. You make 14$ an hour when you work and they give you 200 bucks a week, while your at school.
Then you come out of school and make around 18 bucks an hour for 2 years that is your obligation to the company. After they paid for your school.
At then end of those two years they make you another offer if your good at your job. And you end up making 22 to 24 bucks an hour. At 22years old. Which is 45k ish gross.
And in 5 years you end up making around 30 bucks an hour. Which is 63k gross a year. And that's if you don't take advantage of other opportunities like the college tuition rembursment the company offers.
you can also go military get a technical degree. Start at 25$ an hour. And start going to school with your post 911 GI BILL.
There's tons of other programs for people that want tech degrees and buy the time your 30 you can make between 70k and 100k for just a regular ammount of training
If you get something like underwater welding. Or a hydraulics degree you can make way more. But you will be going to school and working at the same time.
Which leads to less debt. Frankly college isn't a bad option either you just have to get a good degree.
The thing most people don't understand is that they won't be financially "successful" untill they are in there late 20ies or early 30ies.
But starting at 20 saving for retirement and no debt sure beats startingg at 22/23 , 100k in the hole.
Which you shouldnt be anyway, because you should care about your health. The army will get you in shape and with a MOS of you choosing depending on how you do on the asphab.
Then you get free college on the back end if that. The only person holding you back is you. Go and get it, formulate a plan and execute.
Here 3 thing you may need to here, and is good for any guy in general
It also involves moving to ND or Alberta. We're not comparing like with like here.
Waaaaaa! Waaaaa!
I want high-paying jobs to come to ME! I want them to be within bicycling distance of my [current] home... and in cushy-air-conditioned-offices... and with a "fruit & vege bar" for all the employees... and free daycare to take care of my babiez... and...
Oh, and why is the RENT so damned high near all those jobs... there oughtabealaw... people should get homes like for free and stuff...
One of the guys here bought a couple of shipping containers to live in. You can buy them already converted to houses directly from China for a few thousand.
It's a much better alternative housing solution for simple living MGTOWs than overly cutesy "tiny houses", but we need some kind of buyers' quality rating like The Erotic Review for escorts so you don't get ripped off. Also rural county governments need to relax about allowing smaller alternative homes.
In the US housing is a pyramid scheme. Salaries for average people keep going down and down, but everybody is buying too much house and trying to force their neighbors to keep their houses large and expensive so maybe they can someday sell for even more money. Eventually a whole country of broke people can't keep propping up these prices.
By the way, the reason manufactured housing is still legally viable in this environment is because it's built to HUD building codes, which are legally independent from local building codes. Communities still trying to keep out inexpensive smaller mobile homes by mandating minimum widths, which forces a bachelor to buy a 2000 sq ft "double wide" when he could get by with a much smaller park model.
Another great overlooked field is machining. These days most milling is done via CNC, so you need to have an understanding of computers and it extremely helpful to have familiarity with solidworks or whatever the equivalent application from Autodesk is (can't think of it off the top of my head), as well as a CAM application for generating toolpaths for the machine you work with.
You're NOT wrong about the need for CNC/CAD/CAM skills...
But just as a counter to that, machining also involves quite a bit of SKILL and KNOWLEDGE -- it isn't just a matter of having a "computer do all the work" -- you still have to know your materials, your tooling, what "feeds & speeds" are appropriate, etc; and while CAM will take care of the "grunt work" of creating the actual code to run the machine, it's a complete fallacy that it's all "entirely automated" (as if any idiot sitting their ass in from of the computer can just "click a few buttons").
I am wanting to start a career but can’t decide what to do. Plumbing, electrician, truck driving? Etc. Any suggestions?
What do your older male relatives (or older men via the rest of your "social circle") have access to in terms of "networking" for potential jobs...
Seriously, the guys who talk about the fact that "Joe got into the union and a spot as an 'apprentice' electrician because his Uncle Larry is also in he union" -- well, they're not bullshitting you.
"Who you know" is often just as important as "what you know" -- it's not everything or the only thing (if Joe is a complete idiot or fuckup he's not gonna last no matter how many strings Uncle Larry can pull)... and it doesn't mean that someone who DOESN'T have a proverbial "Uncle Larry" already in the biz can't ever wheedle their way in...
It's just that it's a HELLUVA lot easier -- and success in any trade/field/industry or profession -- is going to be far MORE likely if you already have an "in."
EDIT: Also don't -- DO NOT -- dismiss "trucking" out of hand... the very fact that "eveyone knows" (LOL) trucking is "soon to be replaced by automation" is in fact a very GOOD reason to look into it.
Some of the best paying jobs tend to be the ones where everyone ELSE is avoiding the work.
Well ya gotta get married, lose everything and do that several times, do a stint in Fulsom, kill some puppies rape a goat, chicken, and turtle... in that order, then and only then can you apply to loser school.
New RES tag for you now... "goat raper."
Because you know the old joke, doesn't matter what else you do in life... you fuck just ONE goat...
I went to school, paid off debt in the first month or 2, make more than Mark, I don't blame women for my problems, and I'm not insecure about my education level. Where do I fit into this graphic?
Which "1-Year Tech School" lands you a 70K/year job after a few years of work? Also, I know a bunch of guys in trades and trades school. They can be bigger simps than the people I knew in B-school.
