The puzzling thing to me about this is that she clearly has the wherewithal to make these videos, and further propel her career. I expected her to release some videos that weren't new ideas in feminism, but WERE excellent trollbait, which she could then use to establish herself as the "foremost expert on the online harassment that women are exposed to".

Her Feminist Frequency channel hasn't been touched for 6 months. The last video she did was the kickstarter video. Prior to that she was doing one video every month or two. If that's not "cashing out" I don't know what is.

I wonder how the white knights are going to justify this one. If she doesn't release anything after New Year's, and if the video quality isn't up to par with what she was given, then there's no doubt this was nothing but a scam attempt.

Wait a second... at first these videos were going to be available to everyone, and then after getting like 25x more than she wanted... she restricts them to only the people who paid her?

If her goal is spreading the message that there is rampant/sexism misogyny in the gaming community, and possible how to fix it... wouldn't that be accomplished by, you know... actually spreading the fucking message and not MASSIVELY limiting it's viewership?

Or by "all updates only available to the backers", do she just mean updates on the progress of the videos?

Okay, after actually reading the entire thing, it seems it is just updates on the progress. What's funny though, is she isn't actually making any.

So, basically, she went into the project thinking that video games were simplistic and any idiot could both play and understand all the intricate characters and tropes there within.

Then discovered she was completely unprepared to handle such an endeavor, and now refuses to admit that she's out of her depth. The last step for her is to post something, anything, be berated for it (probably rightly so) then play the victim and stop altogether.

Everytime this comes up I can't help but wonder about the tax situation with Kickstarter. I know if someone dumped $150k in my account I'd be paying capital gains at a minimum.
