I think it's brilliant.

[–]Imnotmrabut 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm waiting to see if the media ad politicians will still be "Darling" her, given the sea change with her social media activity exposed and Nungesser seeking legal relief.

Evidence shows that she was obsessional towards Nungesser and then she is obsessional enough to drag a mattress about and call it art? She also gets college tutors to agree that it's art and authorise it ....

Sulkowitz must be bored now that she has so little to garner attention from. I wonder if she did the poster run herself?

[–]porkmaster 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How can these people still defend Emma “fuck me in the but" Sulkowicz. She's a proven lying crazy person.

“fuck me in the but"

?

One of the many Facebook messages to the "rapist" she was obsessed with.

Link?

Google it. That's what I did.

Some people say we just sit around and complain and don't do anything.

This guy did something!

[–]bakedpotato486 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow. Is that a professional photo of her posing with her mattress? That's all she is now, or ever will be. What she was before is moot, apparently.

[–]SupremeAuthority 20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's what passes for pretty now?

[–]AfroMustache 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be fair though, she really isnt bad-looking, just a reprehensible human being.

I support calling them out but this I neither support nor oppose. These are not good posters. We need much better posters. Emma Sulkowicz publicly ruined his reputation by repeated lying without any legal trouble. Instead she made herself a celebrity and got invited by a Senator to SOTU. We have to admit that she is a top-level con artist. These posters are not at the same level as her "art".

[–]self_loathing_ham 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There never was any art, she was elevated by her false victimhood. A better campaign could be ran to expose truth, sure. But it will never compare to what she was able to muster as an alleged victim.

[–]remembz 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't you see quotation marks? Our goal is to make as many people as possible realise not only this hoax but also the whole "rape culture" hoax. But how? I really don't know. What I do know is that this whole thing is pure politics and these posters are not likely to sell well to the public. It may make some people realise what's really going on but it may also offend more people because of the judgmental human brain and feminists' bullshit propaganda, which they've been selling for decades. And by exploiting people's fear they have won the majority, a lot of politicians and the mainstream media. You may think the UVA hoax may wake people up but I'd rather be more cautious, not optimistic. To win this battle, we have to make top-level campaigns, not like these posters.

[–]chocoboat 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd tend to disagree... there is an art to what she's doing, to stirring up this much controversy, gaining this much public attention, and raising her own profile. She's a Grade A bullshit artist.

It's crass garbage, just like it would be when accused people get their names drug through the mud.

There could have been a poster that said "Nungesser found innocent" or "Rape is serious, not an art project" or "Nungesser: Innocent until proven guilty" or some such title. But we have as much proof of her lying as she had of being raped: none. (yes, I've seen the Facebook chats)

This movement showing support like this is clear evidence that we are in a race to the bottom. I had hoped we were better than this.

[–]The_Def_Of_Is_Is 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

You are setting the bar at beyond a shadow of a doubt. That's completely unreasonable, especially since the fight is about people using a sliver of a chance to demolish people.

There is plenty of strong evidence her side is fabricated and zero evidence despite desperate searching from many parties with axes to grind that he has.

She is, and will always be, a rape liar. I don't know what you are trying to peddle, but pushing the line that we should respect someone so patently evil is hilarious.

[–]harryballsagna -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's interesting. I set the bar that I would have set for me. Unless somebody admits to lying or raping, it looks like we won't know beyond a reasonable doubt. Interestingly enough, BaRD is the standard that should be applied for booting kids off campus. You see, I expect the same as I would afford others. Now, if I'm a betting man, I would bet Bill Cosby drugged and raped a bunch of women. However, my lack of physical evidence prevents me from making flyers with "rapist" written on it. You see how this works?

She is, and will always be, a rape liar. I don't know what you are trying to peddle, but pushing the line that we should respect someone so patently evil is hilarious.

I find it hilarious that you would accuse me of peddling something. Look at your highly emotional and irrational rhetoric. You are trying to evoke the feelings and ire of the least rational in our midst. You act like you have proof of her guilt, that she is evil (lol really, in 2015?), and misrepresenting my position to make it look like I'm demanding respect for her, when I'm demanding character from us.

You are the frothing feminist that we rail against. You're just an MRA version of her.

[–]The_Def_Of_Is_Is 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Beyond a shadow of a doubt is what you are applying and it is a great deal more than reasonable doubt. Her story failed the preponderance of evidence standard in a stacked "court" as well as the reasonable doubt in the real one. Even by your standards, where maybe she was raped and was under some strange Stockholm syndrome that only final rejection allowed her to come forward - to continue her declarations publicly is to lie.

  • She is a documented liar. This is indisputable; she is on record claiming things about the police investigation that records show were not true.

  • She is evil. She is malicious and petty and cruel. An entire graduating class was dragged into a lovers spat where the university used it to push an agenda.

  • Calling Paul a rapist publicly is a lie as well. It was investigated and he was not found guilty. It's actually illegal to spread damaging allegations with no proof.

Society would be unworkable with the SoaD standard. Humans are very inventive and fallible; there will always be a way to entertain any seemingly inconsistent set of events as possible, but not necessarily plausible. I positively hate apologists of all fashion, and you are definitely playing that card.

There IS proof she is a liar, even if we discard the rape itself. People can be evil, I'm not sure why you believe 2015 is somehow free of immoral people. And your labeling and slurs are just weak ad hominen.

[–]harryballsagna -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There is no "Shadow of a Doubt" standard. That's legalese for "impossible to prove".

And we can't know for sure that she wasn't raped. OJ was found innocent, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't a killer. Therefore "she continued her declarations publicly is to lie" is not true. Nungesser wasn't proven to be a rapist, but that doesn't mean it is proof she was lying. Personally, I think she is lying, but I wouldn't celebrate this kind of public character assassination like I didn't support it when Nungesser was put through the wringer. Is that a tricky concept for you? Holding yourself to a standard that you would have others hold themselves to?

And people aren't evil. Knowing what we do about neuroscience and psychology means that anybody who is "peddling" the idea of evil in 2015 is a) a religious charlatan, b) an overly emotional zealot, or c) a fool.

And it's ad hominem.

This place is filling up with unprincipled and directionless angry men who engage in the very acts that they decry from their opponents. What a waste of a worthy cause.

[–]Sabz5150 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What standard, exactly, has this whole thing been held to?

[–]harryballsagna 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, that's a complex question. The whole thing is held to various standards.

The school uses a preponderance of evidence to determine whether or not an accused should be expelled. Her complaint, and none of the others, met that standard.

However, many feminists on the internet don't have any real evidentiary standard for her, so they believe that she was raped, no matter the lack of evidence. MRAs, not to be outdone, have no proof that she is lying and are going to the same lengths to shame her as feminists did to shame him.

Quite sad, really.

EDIT: Dammit, replied to wrong thread. Freakin mobile...

[+]Timotheusss -6 points-5 points-4 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I personally don´t like this. Realistically, we are not sure that she is lying. We have no evidence. Her story is plausible due to, for example, the facebook chat, but her story might just be true.

I´d rather have people focus on her hatecampain towards the German guy, and call that despicable, instead of painting her a liar without any clear evidence.

[–]Namkcalb 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I hope you mean "Her story is not plausible due to.."

[–]Timotheusss -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I meant plausible as in, that the circumstances weren't helping her case.

Sorry, non-native.

[–]Furah 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's implausible. Which means that it's possible for it to be true, but it is far more likely to not be true.

[–]The_Def_Of_Is_Is 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is plenty of evidence of lies she has told along the way, even if you are somehow clinging to the possibility that the "rape" was not a lie, the title still fits.

[–]Giorria_Dubh 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That was my initial reaction, but I think there's enough evidence available now to say that she's probably not telling the truth, and that other people definitely lied.

[+]Sockpuppettz -7 points-6 points-5 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Oh God, If only we lived in a world where we didn't have opportunistic vultures looking down our necks for ammo to use.

I can just see this being used by feminists as ammo for YEARS to come

[–]librtee_com 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What? Why? It's the truth. The more they highlight this, the more they discredit themselves.

[–]jubbergun 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not sure how it can be turned into "ammo" when it's essentially the very same thing Sulkowitz's "art project" alleged to do: create a display that draws attention to a guilty party who is yet to be punished.

[–]Sockpuppettz 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because the feminists will say that this proves our culture to be spiteful towards "victims who openly come out with their story"

It will be rape culture ammo

[+]one_why 11 years ago* [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link

Come on, guys...this is pretty fucking low brow right here.

[–]Spoonwood 18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She called Nungesser a serial rapist. See p. 17 and further on: http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/2015_0424_columbia.pdf Sulkowicz is the only person so far as I know who has made a rape accusation against Nungesser.

[–]Apellosine 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There are 3 others, 2 women and a man that have come forward as well with claims of various degrees of sexual misconduct. All of them were either former friends/acquaintances of Nungesser or current friends/acquaintances of Sulkowitz.

[–]Spoonwood 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

None of those were rape charges.

[–]DAE_FAP 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They basically said he was the dominant sexual partner. Being a dominant male in a consensual heterosexual relationship is not even close to deviant, much less criminal.

[–]lofilover -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

crickets

[–]librtee_com 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, it isn't. It's effective messaging.

Feminists fight dirty every day of the week. There is no reason not to reply in turn. The most worthy party is the one that presents the strongest facts, not the one that is most limp-wristed in their communications.

[–]Dr_Morsu 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bah... Feminists are junkyard dogs. When you're dealing with a junkyard dog you go get your own bigger meaner junkyard dog.

[–]jubbergun 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seeing as how it's basically what Sulkowitz herself has been doing, I'm going to agree with you that it's poor form, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If they bring a knife, you bring a bat. If they bring a bat, you bring a gun. It's the Chicago way. If she can dish it out, she damn well better be able to take it.

[–]remembz 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think calling them out is good but doing this way is not. We need much better posters.

[–]lofilover 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

there was a recent post in MRaction about this- the free images available on AVfM are...very lacking, so the design push is on! I still haven't come up with anything decent yet though :(
